Bob Chill
A completely off topic but interesting post: Las Vegas set a new record yesterday for a 129 degree difference between air temp and dewpoint. Air temp was 107 with a -22 dewpoint. Relative humidity was 1%. Now that is some dry air! It's not the heat, it's the humidity so you probably needed a jacket in the 107 degree heat. lol

The Dude
sorry.. i expect that wimpy and seemingly dying line of showers to the west to explode into a rainy set of ef-5s shortly. Bust!
wxmeddler
Yeah instead of a sauna it feels like an oven. Reminds me of my days in Phoenix. When some days it was so hot that the aircraft tires at KPHX started melting on the tarmac. Good times.

No doubt dry heat is friendlier but once you get to 105-110+ it's just fooking hot.

wxmeddler
Give it 1.5 more hours before giving up the ghost. Temps are still in the 80's and the sun sets late. After that, you can call it bust. EDIT: Oh hey look a cell coming off the blue ridge.

Another near FDK now tho.

Ian
heard some thunder.. little cell just east of me, looks like on intersection of westward moving boundary and northward moving outflow.
wxmeddler
Loudoun cell looks pretty decent now.. first pulsed down but new updraft going good. See how the back end of that cell hasn't moved in the last 3 or 4 scans? There is a powerful updraft there fighting the westerly winds.
