Chicago Storm
Why would there be such low dewpoints in N Ill, S Wisc surrounded by more reasonable dews? Wind off the lake.
Trent
Wind off the lake. I forgot that Lake Michigan is still "cold", here it's the opposite, wind off the lake increases our dewpoints. Today was a rather mild and muggy day, versus a mild and less humid day inland.

Chicago Storm
Today was the 12th consecutive 80F+ day at ORD (streak started June 26th). With the pattern in place, it looks like that streak may continue for at least the next 7 days (depending on precip chances). If you remember back to last year ORD had 46 consecutive 80F+ days, which ran from July 2nd-August 16th. 80F+ stats for ORD...

Chicago Storm
Whats up with the gap at 2006? The way LOT has things set up, only half of the yearly data is avaliable from '06.
LocoAko
108 today at Will Rogers in OKC, breaking the old record of 106 from 1996. Day number 18 of 100 degree temperatures so far this summer. This sucks. Yep. Norman reached 107F, beating the old record of 105F (ever recorded) at the current mesonet since its installation in 2002. That was Day 8 in a row of >100F temperatures, Day 38 in a row of >90F temperatures, and Day 14 of >100F temperatures this summer (we often seem to be slightly lower than surrounding stations for some reason). OHSnow
Looking forward to my low 80s with a brief run at 88. Pretty impressive that despite how comfortable it is there in Chicago, it's still about 6 degrees above normal through the first 7 days. Just imagine what the departure would be if we would get some real heat, like some of the models are showing.

Hoosier
Always a little weird. What's that, like the 100th time we've posted the same thing at nearly the same time? Wouldn't doubt it. Monday still looks like it will probably be our warmest day barring an early convective show. Still on the 80 degree dewpoint watch as well with the NAM peaking at 79 and GFS 82. Still on the 80 degree dewpoint watch as well with the NAM peaking at 79 and GFS 82. July 21 is the deadline, if we want to beat last year. Of course we had three 79º dewpoints before we hit 80º last year...just one so far in 2011.

IWXwx
Lake Michigan has really warmed up...mid-lake temp up to 70.5 I just saw a comment yesterday on NWS Chat that at Warren Dunes and Silver Beach, the water temp was around 70 on the 4th, but the past couple of days had dropped back into the low 50's due to upwelling. No wonder Alek is gloating about his endless days of comfortable weather.
