ski MRG
Yeah...heading up to West Chesterfield. Supposedly at a real nice house nestled in a glen. Lol, a little chilly here for you nudists. Have a great time up in NH. I've been getting stuck behind tourists here lately. When people are lost they forget there are other drivers on the road. Sometimes I wish the Tundra came with the surface to surface missile package.
OSUmetstud
there still seems to be some controversy on whether the NAO is important for US East Coast landfalls. http://www.cmmap.org...lston-final.pdf 37310.pdf

There is a reason I live in GC and it's not that I'm in the Federal Witness Protection Program. I fall asleep with the sound of a waterfall outside my window every night. The positives of rural life far exceed the negatives. I saw 3 cars on my way home tonight.... and 4 people on horseback. Seriously.

It seems as though there isn't much research with re: to NAO dailies or weeklies associated with East Coast landfalls. I'm not sure seasonal or monthly means are going to give any signal when these things recurve in the matter of a day or two.

I guess all you can really say, is that if we have some sort of a persistent -NAO, then perhaps recurve chances are increased. Like with any block, I'm sure placement of anomalies matter a lot. ski MRG
Splendid isolation FTW ? I like the lonely, desolate places in the world. especially ones with snow. I think you are right about the 40's Not here though. Low 50s Forecast low here of 50 but a 47 or 48 here at the house wouldn't surprise me. It was brisk this morning with the wind. Mr Torchey
As I sit here and polish off the last shrimp with heavy heavy tabasco, I cant help but think that in 26 short weeks or so, the days will start to get longer again, thank god. Viva la summer 76 clear skies, absolutely beautiful out here on the deck, time for some steamers.
ski MRG
What is the earliest you ever skiied in New England? I poached a few turns at Sugarbush on September 22nd. There was a cold snap and they had a "Blow out the mice party" and they made a few piles of snow on the last day of summer. It used to be that Killington would shoot for the earliest opening and would have one ribbon of snow on Halloween. The bean counters put an end to that frivolous fun. Golf is fun but a poor substitute for the thrill of the descent. Golf is the last thing on my mind in summer, I am all about the beach, bonfires on the beach, in the backyard, hanging on the deck, BBQ's with the family, pig roast or two, fresh seafood everyweek, bocce at low tide, ice cold beer and plenty of eye candy............listening to the peepers put me to sleep on a summers night. Friends and family.

(post 59) Trying to swing a few weeks with them but after Alaska in April and a new baby joining the household in August I'm hard pressed to come up with the rationale for my wife. I wonder if my friends at WaWa would be mad if I snuck a few turns in once they start making snow in mid-November... Maybe we can get another 2" in October like 2009 and I can run over to slide a few feet I'm all Disney-ed out...

weatherMA
@ 40s for a low tonight (probably 56-57 here) @ a cool summer pattern (today was average, 5/7 of the next 7 days are forecasted to be above, 2 normal) Another great summer day; comfortable enough for activity but hot enough for swimming with the high of 79. Looks like mostly mid-80s with a few days warmer and a few cooler, perfect swimming weather-of course- except for Pete, who will have cool brisk 70s and will have to wear a sweatshirt on the porch for dinner. Just thought I'd put that in before he responded with "no 80s here".
