RemeMber this well Plane crashes short of runway at JFK during storm.

Was living in Rosedale at the time, about 2 miles from where the plane crashed.planes always flew very low over my house.I remember running home from school with my mom and sister that day.I was 5 and not in school yet,we went to get my sister. It was poring rain with thunder & lightning.I was petrified of storms back then.just before or a little after we got home I remember hearing a big bang then saw this big black cloud, thought it was thunders and a storm cloud, but then heard on tv a plane had crashed.Remember sitting on my porch the rest of the day watching all the helicopters hovering around and flying by.My dad went to the crash site with my aunts.I wanted to go but they would not let me.My aunt somehow got a piece of the plane and still has it.

I ride down Rockaway Blvd atleast once a week while delivering for work.Always think about it when I pass it.

I saw the storm develop from a single cumulus cloud over Bay Ridge while walking on 86ST...There were a few drops as the cloud moved east towards JFK...It developed rapidly and caused the disaster...

I was at the old Times Square Store in the 5 towns area with my father when the thunderstorm hit. That storm is one of the most intense ones I have ever seen in my lifetime. When we went to leave, people were saying how Rockaway blvd was closed going northbound because of the plane crash. We used to watch the planes come overhead and land there.I still say that while the microburst was the big reason for the crash, those landing light towers were heavy and slowed the plane down and caused it to catch fire.Had there been the lightweight poles of today, the plane may have made the runway.
