griteater
I wanted to see if I could get some help regarding websites that show old weather maps / NARR (North American Reanalysis) for researching past storms. The sites that I'm aware of have their pluses and minuses. Here are the ones I'm aware of: PSU e-Wall - http://www.meteo.psu...NARR/index.html - has good maps for sfc and most of the standard upper air levels, with overlayed data elements...but only shows the lower 48 states, data only goes back to 1979, doesn't show 300 mb level, no vertical velocity shown at 700mb, and no 500mb height anomolies. Plymouth State - http://vortex.plymou...u/reanal-u.html - data goes back to 1950 (although none after 2005), good interface for overlaying data elements and for displaying data outside of the lower 48 states...but for 1000mb, 700mb, and 300mb, only geopotential heights are available, and no 500mb height anomolies. NOAA - http://www.esrl.noaa...omposites/hour/ - good data set for sfc and many upper air levels with ability to display data outside of the lower 48 states...but no ability to overlay data elements (as best I can tell), no 500mb vorticity, and no 500mb height anomolies. Combining the data from each of these sites will pretty much give me what I'm looking for, but I wanted to see if there were any other sites that folks on the forum like for obtaining this info. Thanks in advance.
