Lee
Strong Thunderstorms training along a warm front brought severe flooding to the tri-state area of Kentucky,Tennessee,Virginia. The Middlesborough,Ky and Cumberland gap,Tn areas were especially hard hit. This area lies within deep Mountain valleys and thus run off from the mountains that resulted from around 10 inches(Radar est.) of rain this morning alone combined with a four day total of around 15" created a serious disaster. Fortunately, my immediate location missed out on the flooding as a training band developed to my east as the frontal boundary slowly progressed eastward, resulting in a void between the training bands. I have only recorded 2.39" here within the same 4 day period and only .36" today. Amazing difference! Here's some article links and a radar estimate map describing and showing the disaster as of now. Much more will be known later, no doubt. http://www.wate.com/...cky-border-area http://www.foxnews.c...-kentucky-mine/ This mornings total: http://www.wundergro...ID=MRX&type=NTP 4 day total: http://www.wundergro...ID=JKL&type=NTP
