mattie g
Thunder here in West Springfield I'm hearing it, too. Probably that skinny sumbitch to the south.
Ian
Some lower level rotation recently but nothing great. More noticeable at higher scans. Cell to south might be interfering now.

EasternUSWX
That stuff in WV is hitting the higher CAPE now and is blowing up.
yoda
Does look like that "supercell" in NW VA is having some issues with the storm to its south... perhaps trying to ingest/merge with it?

Ian
That stuff in WV is hitting the higher CAPE now and is blowing up. ended up in a pretty solid zone definitely a sharp boundary from mrb to dc then south/east. makes you wonder what could have been with a better trigger and more shear. Makes you wonder what could it be like to live somewhere not on the east coast. lol. Seems like the states west of here get it all the time but once it it WV it's game over. Last few MCS have been like that. I'll still hold on to hope those get here and at least give me a decent light show.
yoda
Looks like our "supercell" finished dinner... and is hooking a lil again... would you agree Ian? Its weakened some too per the latest SWS
Ian
Looks like our "supercell" finished dinner... and is hooking a lil again... would you agree Ian? next few scans might be key. if that wasnt there it would have unimpeded inflow.. this is the time -- through a bit after sunset -- where the magic can happen. Ian
tops have lowered on most of the storm.. it'll need a bounce back soon.
wxmeddler
Looks like our "supercell" finished dinner... and is hooking a lil again... would you agree Ian? Its weakened some too per the latest SWS Its a rain maker, not supercellular in any way right now.
Kmlwx
Its a rain maker, not supercellular in any way. It had supercell characteristics for quite some time.
Ian
Its a rain maker, not supercellular in any way right now. I don't think that's true. It had rotation on higher scans and a very consistent updraft. It's not very strong but compared to all the others around it was.
wxmeddler
It had supercell characteristics for quite some time. That mid-level rotation back around MRB was impressive for the conditions. It was never going to make it to near the surface though..

Ian
That mid-level rotation back around MRB was impressive for the conditions. It was never going to make it to near the surface though.. it was battling other smaller updrafts on its periphery most of the time.. when it came through the first set it was stronger than near mrb. we dont usually get optimal conditions and still manage to get tornadoes in the area from time to time. meanwhile it looks like i might get rain. Hank Scorpio
Here are a few quick shots of that cell over Loudoun/NW Fairfax taken between 8:20 and 8:30. This was from about where 28 meets the Toll Rd, looking NW. Also, wide angle lens makes everything look 10x cooler

Ian
the storm is in a crappy spot for radar.. on the hi res you can see the first blow up seemingly swirl out. everything's trying to spin.. it's just struggling to get there.
