SPC Meso suggests some good parameters... Supercell parameter of 4 in Loudoun Cty. Derecho composite of 4

3000-4000 SBCAPE and 2000-3000 MUCAPE on the 2100

ehi is decent.. even got a little sig tor values. at least sref seems to have verified in that respect. maybe too messy with other storms crowding it, especially the one just northeast.

Agree... but I do see that MCS maintenance just went up to 60 in VA... 3km EHI of 5

Also... there is some ML Lapse Rates of 7.0 C/KM working into the VA area as well

MRB cell decided to change course... was moving SE and now is moving S

it's sort of turning right.. it's weakish as far as sups go but it has a few characteristics. or it's just the updraft redeveloping to the right and im imaging things.

Pretty wild and unusual storm. After a 20-minute lull with some sun, I'm now getting 20 mph winds and some small hail. Sheets of rain and the temp just dropped 5 degrees, finally.

you got into both storms in your area it looks.. with the first you were mainly in downstream anvil rain but it was probably sucking in warmer air from the east much of the time. looks like the second would have gotten you with the downdraft etc.

Very cool. Thanks for the explanation, Ian.

interesting little storms.. they all have (had?) pretty solid and continual updrafts. something's missing.. i guess the weak shear is a problem.

That's a lot of storms. Hopefully tomorrow looks like that just over us.

problem with tomorrow is the low moves like 12 feet from now till then.. just enough to put us in an even less sheared environment. i think we'll have some action though.. perhaps some decent storms.

Wonder if that stuff in WV/C.VA hold and pushes NE into tonight. I just want a good nature fireworks display.

Oh lovely... storms crapping out again coming out of Washington County.

Yeah, what's up with the Frederick split recently. Seems everything dies out or splits north/south as it approaches. My water bill is going to be sky high! I guess that is the nature of isolated storms.

Well we have been getting it overnight. Woke up yet once again to a soaking wet yard. We live in new construction and our yard is all clay with sod so it turns into a bog after a heavy rain that is how I knew it had rained. I just want a decent storm in the daylight. But I agree with you on the "Frederick split" lately. I have actually watched storms coming split to the East and West only to reconnect to the south, frustrating to say the least.
