Does anyone know the actual street that the damage in Whiting NJ was. I my wifes aunt lives in one of those developments in the whiting/manchester area, but she was in wildwood at the time so i dont know if that occurred near where they live.

Someone posted video of downed trees in that area.

Yea.. It'll never happen with a winter nor'easter. I'm always in the screw zone when it comes to snow

Rockland County is just such a snow hole...Westchester doesn't jackpot that often, but your area is even worse. You guys even changed over to rain during the 2/25/10 Snowicane when I was all snow. It was literally raining to the east and west of me as I got pounded with 3" rates that resulted in my final measurement of 26" at 350' elevation. I know you guys also did badly in the 12/19/09 storm.

Yea.. Any place but here.. This area of rain in southern rockland is training a bit.. Very interesting.. Up to 1.72 inches for the day

Not nearly as much rain here, only had .46" in the two storms that occurred today. It was pleasant to have a steady rain water the garden, however.

yea, i kinda like severe today for areas w of nyc. there will be a sfc boundary near nyc and the coast so the sbcape is nil. but the mucape is good so elevated storms with hail are possible. so it's possible that even a few svr storms for the coast could go too. all this is this afternoon tho so we have plenty of time to watch it.

There is a bit more elevated CAPE for the coast today, so there should be non severe, but strong t-storms for the coast today. NJ looks like severe. Friday looks like less support and dynamics along with the coast in marine layer again for LI to be outlooked for severe today and Friday. Strong yes, but do not see severe reports for LI today and Friday. Do u agree ?

Yea I agree getting strong storms are a good possibility but being where we are its seldom that even on the best day do we get the truly severe storms that inland areas experience

well, it's from 00Z and 19 hours out.. so that would be at about 3:00 PM this afternoon I believe

Thank you. I am just Estimating and trying to figure out my routes for today as i get done work at 3:30 so that will not be good for me, but I am still trying to figure out what my planned routes will be for any potential Storm Chase.

When do you think the storms are going to fire this afternoon? And what effect will the marine layer have on the storms today as opposed to yesterday when the reach the coastal locals? Thank you

NAM has big storms in the NYC vicinity for around 5pm.

It doesnt have the storms occuring right now though, so take it FWIW.

Yea I figured that already haha.....are these storms going to be discrete kind of like yesterdays cell in jersey? And would the primary threat be hail/damaging winds and isolated tornadoes as well?

I'd say there is a good shot everywhere, even near the coast.. We're all socked in with abundant low level clouds, yet stuff is firing We have some boundaries to work with today and we have pretty nice upper dynamics coming through... A lot of the instability will be elevated with the lack of sun
