CoralRed
Indoors in downtown Jersey City. Had been thundering for awhile and then room became very dark. So about 20 minutes ago went to a window facing east, toward Hudson and downtown New York. A big black cloud covered about 3/4 of sky. No rain. I could see white puffy clouds and blue skies underneath in what I assume were Hoboken, midtown Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. I watched for about 5 minutes; lots of thunder, only saw 2 baby lightening strikes within the cloud. Stepped away from window for less than a minute. When I got back, it was raining cats and dogs and the cloud had overspead all areas to the south. Just a tiny bit of blue left in Queens, which then changed to gray within a minute or two. What a quick change. I've never seen that before.

IsentropicLift
The tail end of that line over Orange county is now filling in big time over Morris county. Getting pretty excited as I seem to be in prime target for that line in about 30 minutes. We got hit hard here in Ramsey with probably the hardest rain I've seen in years. Now if I could get some hail my day would be complete.
Cfa
I'm jealous because I slept right through them this morning. Just faint thunder [still sounds scary] and I saw some lightning flashes 5+ miles away. Edit: At least the thunder is louder now lol, it sounds like it's happening here. However the sun is back out. Shades
I've got a video of the view of the storms structure from here in Queens looking west toward Manhattan. I will be uploading it soon, many CG strikes, impressive shelf cloud structure, at times exhibiting a wall cloud orientation with hints of rotation, of course none of if reaching the ground with this non-severe storm. But as reports have been in coming from member here, hail being reported in midtown. Will upload to youtube and post/embed the video here soon. Cfa
Very dark skies to the northeast, you can't see passed a certain point. The thunder is still fairly loud and psychotic and I'm MILES south/SE of the storm. I just saw a thick pink lightning bolt that has to be well over 5 miles to the north.
