My thoughts (and map) on next weekend's Heat Wave for the Southern states/Miss. Valley. The GFS has some parts of Ark and Mo, western KY /TN having heat indices over over 116 to 120, with dewpoints in the 80's in the middle of the day . Unreal. Widespread actual temps over 100 for Carolinas, Ga,Ala, Ms, TN, Ark, Ky

Snapshot from the 12Z GFS for my area.

Sunday 7/3 21Z

103 degrees

26 degree 850 temp

582 - 500-1000

592 500mb heights

That is very ugly, and sandwiched in between 99-101 degree heat for a couple days on each side of Sunday. just in time for July 4th!!!

I'm nowcasting but I think something might be getting ready to fire off in Northern Alabama. It appears as it could be trying to form a line of storms. It's really early but the satellite and radar indicate this could be happening. I wonder if some of this might be getting triggered by outflow from the MCS in the Midwest. This is all speculation and we all know how dangerous that is. But we shall see!!!

Welp, they've lowered the previous 50% chance for today down to 30%. *sigh*. Two clusters missed us just to the South overnight... did manage to catch a few errant raindrops on the car this morning. So, another 'trace' gets recorded, and we still set at 0.80" for the month.

Looking at the storms moving just east of Cary, my guesses are that your percentages just went WAY up for today...

I've got family coming in from Miami and we have lots of outdoor activities planed during this period. It's gonna be hawt.

yea...us too....you will probably be able to see our fireworks show from your house LOL...we go to a private lake and its a multi-family event.....the guys really spend the dough.....we are also doing a low country boil for some folks coming from Dallas, TX....gonna be a fun weekend.....but I'm afraid HOT won't even come close if the GFS verifies.

Yes indeed. I noticed the GFS has 850mb temps of +26C here in AVL. So even the mountain valleys should get into the low-mid 90s this weekend.

Talk about a storm raining itself out! That warned cluster dropped 3+" in Holly Springs... we got .04" from the same dieing cell 20 miles to the East. At least the temperature dropped down from the oppressive 91/70 it was just before that to a now clammy 77/68.

First I've ever seen of a dewpoint being higher than temperature lol. Interesting weather you are getting up there.

Getting some heavy rain with this line of "storms", almost no lightning and thunder and winds never gusted over 30-35 but they warned the entire line so maybe someplace got hit better than my area. Overall though the entire area prolly got 1-2" of much much much needed rain. To late to save the corn most of the crop in eastern NC isnt going to yield, but this will help the cotten and soybeans.

The line yesterday had some good winds, but nothing too impressive. Ended with about .2" for yesterday. That brings my total for June close to 6"!!! Thats +2" from average!

Wow, you've been doing real well!! After only getting .3 in over a month, I've gotten 3 inches in just 4 days. Another storm hit while I was up working Atl. today. Saw the storm clouds from up in Jonesboro, but never saw any heavy rain, just some spitting on the drive home. In my neighborhood there was some street flooding when we pulled off of 19/41. Had to rub my eyes and palm slap my head to be sure I wasn't asleep :) Too bad the rain clouds waited until all my grass died before they found my house. T

As I walk on the treadmill here in Sav., I have enjoyed looking out the window at a slow moving tstorm producing some real nice much needed rain along with a few lightning

strikes. No wind of sig, or hail.

Congrats to those who are getting the much needed rain east. Hoping one of these pop up storms North and west of the triad meanders on my way. Still bone dry here in my little bubble. .42 since June 1st. 5.50 since April 10th, imby.

Pretty crazy storm rolling through the Triad right now. The lightning with this one is amazing!

You getting any rain your way? Nothing here yet.....Vanished overhead then reformed back towards Gboro. Looks like more back west.....
