High winds from the outflow started hitting us about 5 minutes ago. Dark black to our west and thunder, the main line will be hitting soon.

What's interesting with this outflow is how long it's lasting. Usually these don't give us more than a couple of minutes of high winds, then we get merely short-lived gusts until the cell hits. This particular one is continuing to howl, and thrash the treetops around.

Yep, it was a bust here. Just some wind and a few drops so far. My friend who was visiting his folks over off Hwy 16 said it was pouring there, but saw nothing but a few drops on his way home all the way on the east side of the county. Those storms just fell to pieces all along that line. Had a pretty bow, but nothing in the box. T

Well I know I'm a little late on this, but the storm Friday in Charlotte was pretty crazy. We probably had wind gusts up to 60 mph or somewhere higher. A large tree went down across Archdale Drive and power went out where I work. My friends at my old job also told me they had power out there. I worked their 5 years and never experienced a power outage from weather. The only time I can remember power going out was because Duke Power was working on a line and had to shut it down. I took this video but sadly it was as the storm was starting to die down. I was so immersed in work that I didn't even notice the storm until power started going out and saw my other co workers just gawking at the window. Def. pretty fun, and you can hear one girl is very scared lol. Just wish I could have gotten the really good winds.

I was talking to my friend last night and he agreed with me that the pattern for North Georgia in general has been amazing the last week or two. Rain every other day or more with severe occurring almost every time. We both also agreed that it has been a very long time since we have locked onto a pattern like this. The amount of organized convective systems dropping down into this area has been amazing. I hope the pattern continues because most of us here are absolutely loving it. I can't tell you guys how nice it is to go from a 95 degree day to in a matter of minutes being 68 with lots of wind and rain. It really hits the spot on a sultry afternoon. Congrats to others who have been getting hit daily and I'm sorry for the ones who have been suffering with out relief.

After the heat and humidity we experienced today, that rain we had this evening was so refreshing. It would be nice to have that every day ! What a difference the rain made.

Nice storm hitting Hilton Head. Came in off the ocean.......loads of ctg and heavy rain. Amazing watching the bolts hitting to my nw. We went throguh that cell and it woke the resort up with it's sonic crashes. What I thought was an ending seems to be kicking into life again. The extended porch is inviting.......I must be off my southern rocker?

I was kept up all night by those storms. I was in that storm that had CTG lightning, and we had some zingers near the house. Haven't checked the rain gauge, but with what I heard hitting the roof, I can't imagine not getting an inch overnight. A welcome amount around these parts.

Well, I lucked out! One of those wandering cells found me, and sprang for .9 so far. It has about rained out, but it is still drizzling, so I might make an inch. T

Looks like your gauge is getting a small workout :weight_lift:

For once mby was in the right spot. Had two pretty big storms move through with .65 total. Lots of wind and lightning as well

Woo Hoo! Congrats!

Going to need.a nap at the beach today. There was a second batch that came through.....I was too tired to get up and watch beyond the peeking through the window in the bedroom. Not as interesting as the first storm but it had it's moments. Glad to hear some of you got some needed rain. Going to walk around in a bit to see if ay of the tall trees in the back took a hit....smelled like it. My kids said the first storm sounded like a battle scene on TV......"incoming!!"

I am in Hilton Head from PA for vacation also! That was a pretty big storm! It woke me up around 1:30 and it was just crazy outside...tons of vivid lightning and very loud literally cracking sounding thunder! If I would not have been so tired I would have went out and tried to get some lightning pictures. Hopefully another storm like that one happens again this evening! Oh btw I am staying in the Crowne Plaza.

Well, back from the beach at Kiawah. Big storms, big heat, big smoke. Hit 100 in Charleston three days(102 on two of those days). On Thursday a pretty big line of storms rolled in. The beach was great on five of seven days. However, when the smoke rolled in from Georgia and Florida it was a pain. We didn't get a pic of the smoke but it was thick when it made its appearance. Most days were very good as far as smoke goes. I would do some research if you are heading for the Georgia coast this summer. Should be good for a few days due to the rain lately there. If the wind turned from the southwest - it would move in quickly. Most days it was just hot. Great trip. Here are a few pics that show the weather. BTW, that pick in Charleston is at 6:30 PM. It got so dark the street lights came on.

Another MCS is diving towards the southeast. FFC's AFD spoke of the trajectory being uncertain. I'm holding hope for it but we shall see what becomes of it. It looks rather robust right now but FFC has concerns. FFC is also honking the horn for tomorrow and severe storms.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 741 AM EDT MON JUN 27 2011 .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 226 AM EDT MON JUN 27 2011/ SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... BIGGEST CHALLENGE WITH TODAYS FORECAST IS THE TRAJECTORY OF THE MCS NOW MOVING THROUGH IA/MO/IL. NONE OF THE MODELS PICK UP THAT THE MCS EXISTS WHICH IS WHAT IS MAKING THIS A DIFFICULT FORECAST. IT APPEARS THAT THE SOUTHEAST MOVING MCS IS FOLLOWING THE THERMAL WIND VECTOR WHICH OVER THE NEXT 18 HOURS WOULD KEEP IT MOVING SOUTHEAST. THE INHIBITING FACTOR IS THE BUILDING RIDGE OVER THE SOUTHERN THIRD OF THE COUNTRY. ANOTHER INHIBITING FACTOR IS THAT OUR ATMOSPHERE GOT WORKED OVER VERY WELL SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. ALL MODELS HAVE CAPES INCREASING TO OVER 2000 THIS AFTERNOON. HAVING SAID ALL OF THIS...MAV AND MET POPS ARE GENERALLY LESS THAN 10 PERCENT. SEEING THAT THE MODELS HAVE NOT PICKED UP ON THE MCS...WILL THROW OUT GUIDANCE POPS AND CONTINUE WITH SLIGHT CHANCE TO CHANCE POPS THIS MORNING AND CHANCE POPS THIS AFTERNOON WITH ISOLATED SEVERE POSSIBLE. TUESDAY IS A DIFFERENT STORY. MODELS HAVE A COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS THE CWA TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. GIVEN THE VOLATILITY OF THE CURRENT STATE OF THE ATMOSPHERE...FEEL HIGH CHANCE POPS ARE IN ORDER FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. MET GUIDANCE SEEMS TO HAVE A BETTER HANDLE ON THIS THAN THE MAV GUIDANCE. DRIER AIR MOVES INTO THE CWA WEDNESDAY WHICH SHOULD LIMIT CONVECTION IN THE AFTERNOON TO SLIGHT CHANCE.

Welp, they've lowered the previous 50% chance for today down to 30%. *sigh*. Two clusters missed us just to the South overnight... did manage to catch a few errant raindrops on the car this morning. So, another 'trace' gets recorded, and we still set at 0.80" for the month.

The line yesterday had some good winds, but nothing too impressive. Ended with about .2" for yesterday. That brings my total for June close to 6"!!! Thats +2" from average!

Tuesday should be an active day, then getting calm for a few days as high pressure cools down the areas east of the Apps around Wed/Thurs (noticeable at night esp) with drier air. But that won't last, and the GFS has a major heat wave in store for the Southeast next weekend. Its forecasting +24 and a 594 ridge over the Tenn Valley and southern Apps, so thats perfect placement to downslope the Carolinas with blazing heat. Overall for northern Ala, Ga and western Carolinas, this looks to me like the hottest air of the year so far. Thknss 582! By Sunday, +24 is pretty widespread over Alabama, Georgia, Carolinas. Thats extremely hot. If your ground is dry when this hits, your surface temps will easily shoot over 100. Wet grounds will help retard that though. The biggest unknown at this point is the amount of debris cirrus that could keep temps from realizing full potential next weekend. Could be nw flow debris.

However further south toward the eastern sections of the Carolinas and southern areas near the Gulf, probably not the hottest but could be close.Either way, widespread 100's/99 degrees will be felt outside the mtns. Even with this heat ridge, theres just enough nw flow and activity each day that still may develop into a strong NW flow event, but that will be localized for now. Beyond this, we go back into strong NW flow and MCC activity, which just keeps on. Unfortunately that doesn't do much for many areas that keep missing the rains.

As long as the ridging remains in Texas/south Plains and troughing /nw flow over the Midatlantic and east coast, this will keep Hurricane chances way down for the Gulf and east Coast. And the good rains that were to come with it, hopefully the flow changes sometime in July or August. Usually , August brings a change. For now, anything that forms would get swept well south into northern Mexico/Brownsville area.

I can hear thunder from the storm that prompted the warning a county over. No chance it works it's way over here but none the less entertaining to a slight degree.

I could here that about 30 minutes ago. Didn't even know what it was until I saw the radar. Not a drop here either.
