1.35" of rain today. Total for the month = 4.48"

I'm not sure why radar estimated 0.60" for my area today. That is much less than the 1.35" I actually received.

I've come to learn that the NEXRAD rainfall estimates are becoming more and more inaccurate or at least the ones you see on the GRLevel3.

Glad you got yours, I got nothing...... again. Well, I did get the outflow. That got my attention.

I'll take the 6/25 00z GFS -- it's showing 8" +/- over the next 16 day period :D:whistle:

Figures, I will be out of town camping for the next week. A few days of R&R in Bryson City then a few days of hiking/camping in Panthertown Valley near Cashiers.

Eeked out .07" from a quick heavy shot of rain. At this rate I predict my next chance of Bi-monthly rain will be in the July 8-10 period.

Hello Southeast crew. I'm in SW GA visiting my folks and figured I would contribute an observation or two. Currently here in Thomasville,GA it is 84F. A far cry from the 56F and rain at home in VT. They missed the storms here yesterday but they closed the airport in JAX, we had to divert to Charleston, SC. The news last night saId they are about 20" down on rain for the last 9 months.

Well over the past two weeks of decent rain chances i have picked up about .15qpf. I habve had storms to my west, north, east, and south only to see them bypass me or dry out. My parents who live 5 miles away have had 7" over the same time perio..... depressingeay

Spent the week down at the pamlico river east of Bath. Had a decent week fishing and we caught 26 keeper flounder but the wind was up most of the week. Caught two big storms one overnight Sunday night and again on Thursday. After the storm passed Thursday I got a pic of the anvil at sunset. Goes from a great orange to a faded pale blue.

WooHoo!! I lost the bet but won some rain. It is coming down so hard I can actually hear it raining from inside the house. I bet I find .5 to an inch in the gauge when I look. Man, that was a long, long wait. T

Yippie!! It's about time!

I took these yesterday in Hoke County. The thunderstorm you see in these is around 40 miles to the NE.

Nice shots Jeremy! Thank you for sharing them :sun:

Absolutely gorgeous in the mountains over looking Bryson City, NC. Feels like early fall.

I'm sure you will have a great time! I slept like a baby with the temps at night of only 60deg...it was heaven

I snapped this photo from work with my iPhone several nights ago after a round of severe storms grazed the area.

Great pic! Thank you for sharing :sun:

While I was gone mby picked up another whopping .09 on Friday night :weight_lift::lol:

DISCUSSION...TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND

INTENSITY THIS AFTERNOON ALONG LEADING EDGE OF OUTFLOW BOUNDARY

WHICH HAS RECENTLY CRESTED THE SPINE OF THE APPALACHIANS. AMBIENT

INFLOW AIR MASS IS EXPECTED TO BECOME QUITE HOT. WHEN COUPLED WITH

A MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER AND STEEP MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATE

ENVIRONMENT...EXPECT AFTERNOON MLCAPE VALUES TO APPROACH 2500-3500

J/KG. THIS INSTABILITY COMBINED WITH A BELT OF SLIGHTLY STRONGER

MIDLEVEL FLOW MOVING THROUGH THE SRN APPALACHIANS /REF. CURRENT MRX

VAD/ WILL SUPPORT THE POTENTIAL FOR ORGANIZED STORM CLUSTERS CAPABLE

OF DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL.

Game on! This should be an interesting line. It looks nasty right now.

I make a little animation earlier today showing the key players going into this afternoons severe weather threat. At this point, I'm thinking the highest threat for storms and potentially severe weather will be back in Alabama and Georgia, with cirrus currently inhibiting more convective development further east in NC and SC. I'm working on a blog update that should be ready soon.

Wow, this one looks like it might find me too! I might faint if I get two storms dropping actual rain over a 3 day period. I think I'd better lie down before the line gets here, just in case :) After picking up an inch two days ago, and only .3 for the month before, any more rain might be a shock to my system, lol. T
