HurricaneJosh
You have to admit, though, that this season has loads of potential. I'd like to think you're right. I hope.
HurricaneJosh
The 00Z GFS run for that potentially hawt feature is very 1919.
HurricaneJosh
Gonna ignore Chantal for a few days. Just really sick of tracking systems that limp along on life support. It shouldn't be so hard to get a good, vertically-stacked cyclone in this basin. Just bored with all these challenged systems. I know, I know... It's July... Srain
Chantal is that first sacrificial wave that seems to come along every year. Now Dorian on the other hand....we will see.

Ed Lizard
Since we have a red meat ChinaCane, will Typhoon Hunter be joining this thread? Doubles the chances for good chase discussion on any random day to include both sides of the dateline.
HurricaneJosh
The NATL is just irritating me. I think the early smattering of named systems created some sort of expectation. It's as if they existed just to set-up a frustrating July.Adam and Jorge-- who are now helping administer the iCyclone Facebook page-- refuse to bring any comfort in the form of an optimistic long-range model analysis.I'll be cursed to make anniversary posts all month. wxmx
Next MJO passage will coincide with the climatological Atlantic uptick in about a month. I foresee a decent/good August.
HurricaneJosh
I was wondering about the bilingual updates... Yeah, that's Jorge. My Spanish ain't quite that good. iCyclone's fanbase includes several thousand Mexicans, so it's an important audience for us. HurricaneJosh
Five years ago today, Hurricane Dolly lashed Port Isabel, TX. Awesome fun, this one-- about as much as one can expect from a Cat 1. A good chase:

Ed Lizard
Glass 5/32nds full the iCyclone team will be booking flights to Miami this time next week. They/he won't try to connect to PBI, DAB or MLB because of weather concerns, they'll rent a car and experience I-95. Does Josh have an experienced Florida chase partner after 92 months since Wilma? HurricaneJosh
George Zimmerman is free and available. Ugh, let's please not even insert such ugly topics into this therapeutic thread. P.S. Ed Lizard
I know Josh doesn't like islands, but palm trees swaying, 45 knot gusts, lawn furniture tipped over, followed by volcano video or tourism... Flossie!
Floydbuster
It has indeed been a while since we've had an epic long-tracker. Hurricane Frances would be one I remember as being an epic long tracker, same with Hurricane Isabel. Ike and Dean were also pretty memorable. Superstorm93
I would absolutely make a trip down to my house in WPB for a Frances or a Jeanne type storm again. Wilma was a little too much for me and I really didn't feel safe 23 stories up where winds must have been sustained well over 100-110 knots. Those were the good old days of 2004 and 2005. Oh well, pretty much any hurricane making landfall close to PBI would be game on for me these days. The amount of CV activity is somewhat encouraging, but it'll likely be another few weeks before the chances of a red meat cyclone forms in the Atlantic. Ahhh, yes go ahead and drink that 5/32 glass of cool aid and eat that humble pie. Man up and take your cat 3's or 4's in your hood. Stop wishing for hurricanes in other states. Just think no power for weeks, and fighting the insurance company. What a wonderful thing to think about! You and the middle-age ego tripping chaser can do plenty of filming for YouTube. Stop watching from the sidelines, instead be in on the action in your area. There is no better feeling, then watching your home being destroyed and watching it on YouTube. Yeah, the CV seedlings are encouraging, I guess-- but I would have been more excited by a W-basin, localized 'cane-- something yummyz like that. Not sure if actual hurtyhurtz or trolling. In either case, we've all heard this story before. Everyone in this thread is well aware of the effects of landfalling 'canes. Yep. Thanks, Mark. This is a chase thread. No one is hoping for death and destruction, but if it's going to happen anyways (since rooting for or against the weather doesn't change anything), someone might as well document it. Exactly. Thx.
