WVclimo
Lack of rain + high heat = That's amazing. I cut my grass a week ago today. It is high again, but its too damn hot to worry about it. But its green and lush. Had a t'storm a few hours ago that knocked the temp back, temporarily. My VPS, with a good siting in the center of a large lawn, shows 89/78 right now. All one needs is to step outside to confirm it. Nasty.

Nasty. I think I've cut my lawn twice since June 1. It kinda needs it now, mostly due to the weeds that don't seem to mind the lack of rain. Mencken_Fan
I need to create a thread for the microclimates of this area lol. Took me about 3-4 months to understand Maine, now I have the mid atl. When Baltimore is downwind of D.C., the effect of one heat island feeding into another causes Baltimore temps to rise even higher.

After tomorrow night, however, I'll be ready for this to be over.

DMADKAT
The all time record high minimum for you guys in Washington was 84 on July 16, 1983. Yes, the forgotten summer of 1983. That was a very humid summer here in Norfolk, Va. Hottest summer in my memory until last year.

Ian
Nonchalantly tie one of the four extreme temp records in DC. Yawn. 4 days in a row equals last yr total for most 80+ at DC. Twice as long as any prior streak.
winterymix
4 days in a row equals last yr total for most 80+ at DC. Twice as long as any prior streak. This is a summer where the urban heat islands are magnifying their own conditions. Hence Newark at 108 degrees and DCA remaining tropically soupy all night. These cities need more rooftop gardens. Simple science when you really think about it . I agree with you . We need less something that assorbs heat .
MN Transplant
DCA fails to drop below 80 again. Quite a streak. Lost in all of the hubbub about the record temperatures is one main defining question - what happened to JYO's heat duopoly (w/FDK)?
