yoda
a bit of hyperbole...500 mb heights are higher (>594 dm) but 850T are only in the range of 21/22, so mid to upper 90s a good bet... True... but wouldn't the 850s catch up? As in as we get closer the 850s might tick upward a few degrees?

chris87
True... but wouldn't the 850s catch up? As in as we get closer the 850s might tick upward a few degrees? not necessarily...if that "death" ridge stays over us for several days, then you could expect 850T to trend upward through that period. 850T is better correlated with maximum sfc temps, than 500H.... Jebman
This afternoon reminds me of July 15 1995 when I took a jebwalk in 101 degrees with a dewpoint of 85. I was a lot younger then. It was so damned hot that I was forced to crawl into a culvert. Cryin' shame that this winter won't be anything like what that following winter was like

Jebman
weather bug 99 degrees / 82 degree dewpoint / 124 degree heat index I know its wrong - more like 93 degrees with a 70 dewpoint and a reasonable heat index of 95 degrees. Weather bug is so overrated This is a normal summer day - why is nws putting out excessive heat warnings geeze
