Watch for much of Eastern Michigan/Indiana/Western OH

Our 6th watch here in macomb and we've yet to see anything severe this spring/summer. Just heavy rain and a little wind. Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw, and Grand Rapids have been impacted but so far we've dodged bullet after bullet. Hope it continues.

Im thinking most of the severe weather will stay North/West of the Detroit area.

Preliminary June 22nd 2011 Damage Surveys

We will keep this article updated as preliminary reports come in from our damage survey teams currently deployed in the field.

Damage in Mount Prospect:

The most intense damage was approximately 200 yards wide and was a couple of miles long. This damage path started near the intersection of West Golf and South We Go trail and extended north-northeastward to near the Kensington Rd and North Pine St intersection. There was no conclusive evidence found to suggest that the damage was a result of a tornado, therefore it is considered to be the result of strong straight line winds. The damage found consisted of large hardwood trees snapped and large soft and hardwood uprooted trees, along with roof damage to area buildings. This damage is consistent with straight line winds of 90 to 100 mph.

WFO Toronto investigating the storm damage in Essex County. I think it's pretty surprising our tornado count still stands as 1, an F0 on April 27. EC has performed about six to ten investigations this season and it's all been straight-line winds. Usually by now we've had at least five to ten tornadoes.

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN ONTARIO AND THE
NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA
AT 11:50 AM EDT WEDNESDAY 22 JUNE 2011.

-------------------------------------------------------------

ENVIRONMENT CANADA STORM DAMAGE INVESTIGATORS HAVE BEEN DISPATCHED

As previously mentioned, myself and kevlon62 ended up with 3 tors today.

The first was a nice funnel, which eventually touched down as a very fine/needle/pencil tornado.

The second was partially rain wrapped from our position.

The third was the longer track of the three. This tornado was also multi-vortex for a time. Along the way we came across tree damage, snapped power poles, and an irrigation system that was twisted and flipped. A few pics of this tor (Initial stages) are below...

A few more shots to add to the other that were attached to the post above...

Doubtful.

I wouldnt say doubtful...look at the radar. I think it will stay mostly in Western Oakland up through the Saginaw Valley into the thumb. Probably Secondary of Storms this evening around Toledo through Lake Erie into SW Ontario.

This was a great storm, by far the best here since I have been back in Michigan. I was driving back from a dentist appt. when it hit, but I did stop and take a few pictures as the storm was departing. These are both looking to my SE at a different storm in the line.
