yeah that doesn't look good, hopefully it will pass to the north of here. Also hope this is because of convective feedback.

For what it's worth the 18z NAM also had something pretty similar... although it's not nearly as strong of a wind field:

SKT_META__KJLN.png

Although the GFS isn't even coming close to what the NAM shows around there. Either way hope you stay safe.

We're not currently in a watch or Mesoscale Discussion, but western Sangamon County, IL is currently under a Severe T-Storm Warning until 10:45--might be getting rocked here soon. Plus the warning is affecting New Berlin, IL in the far western part of the county--where the Sangamon County Fair is currently underway. Not a good situation for an outdoor event:

Looks like the forementioned storm is intensifying on radar as it approaches Springfield. And I just stepped outside my apartment--very eerily calm and little or no wind right now, but quite a lightning show to the southwest (it's unfortunate I'm in the middle of the city and don't get much of a view of the show when these storms approach).

I don't know...there is a TON of precip associated with that wave/sfc low that moves from IL across IN/OH from 12z to 0z that day..heating could be a problem with alot of ongoing precip.

GFS looks different to say the least. I'm not sure which solution is more accurate but in either case, shear looks pretty good.

Wow GFS really brings down the PV from Canada just to the northeast east of the storm, This is kind of like the 50/50 troff in the rockies to plow east straight into the +20c temps over the plains.

I live in McPherson, and we got rocked tonight. Winds 60+mph and hail between 1.50" and 2" here while i was at work . Awesome lightning show, tons of hail, and 2.30" of rain from it :) I would have taken photo's but i was stuck at work.

With the 15 MPH movement of these Springfield-area storms tonight, flooding will be among the major concerns, as this ILX storm report indicates between Jacksonville and Springfield. And the same area is getting socked with more heavy rain with the latest warning:
