SPC issues the watches...

Ultimately the counties included in the watch is at the discretion of the local WFO - DTX expanded the watch locally to include the Eastern half of the CWA after the storms started pushing East/warnings started being issued. I believe that is the point he was trying to make.

Once again dtx confuses me. They waited until there were warnings to issue a tornado watch. Kind of defeats the purpose.

I was kind of confused by that as well until I seen on radar a very small rotation in cell over Rochester but it was short lived. Well anyways great lightning show got about 0.25" and my 50 second downpour. Looks like the Sterling hts area recieved about 1.5" of needed rain in the last hour

mother nature playing a cruel trick on me lol I was walking around universal studios when i got a ton of texts asking what was going on lol had to call Caplan and get an update.

You're not alone. I knew when I chose to go on vacation the active weather would come while I'm gone. Two severe thunderstorm warnings and a lot of rain (which by itself I can pass on, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Ended up with a wall cloud around Sugar Grove/Kaneville...

Then pushed north with 60-65mph winds here. Several <4" branches down, though are few bigger than that. Power is also out in some areas...it did go off here for a time.

Nice, didn't you catch 3 tornadoes yesterday or somewhere around there? nice chasing pics you posted...... :)

Not a drop of rain here in Canton, Michigan. Had plenty of lightning to the East, North, and West.

I just hope tomorrow will deliver. Any chance we'll see anything like what they saw in Chicago tonight?

IF we get some sunshine tomorrow we should be primed for severe storms in MI..... but the whole sunshine question is the biggest problem........this whole storm system may be too strong where it tosses out clouds too much for a great storm setup.....

Tonight's NAM looks much better than the 12z one did...I bet we see a decent threat.
