AfewUniversesBelowNormal
Not surprising, the Euro weeklies are more of a repetition model than anything else.

midatlanticweather
90% of his tweets are about europe. but where else would i have learned norway is having the coldest autumn in 222 years? I disagree - 90% are about his workouts,PSU wrestling, and why Global warming proponents leave large carbon footprints at their conferences. buckeye
i guess the most relevant question now is... how reliable have the euro weeklies been? I just saw an old Brett Anderson column on Accuwx where he posted the euro weeklies back around NOV. 22nd. They were showing the first two weeks of DEC as 'seasonable' over much of the area east of the miss river. apparently to answer my own question.....not too reliable. earthlight
Just a brief bump. Pretty epic win for the weeklies. The blocking up until very recently, despite some very brief periods of intermission, has been relentless. So a good early signal by the weeklies. And a good call by Ian., just not for DC. mitchnick
The new weeklies keep us in the cold for the next month people can say what they want, at least this year, the CFS has been dead on and was the first long range model I am aware of to suggest JAN would be and FEB could be below normal not saying it will be, but Euro weeklies suggest CFS has done well this winter

Can't wait for severe weather season At some point you (read: most people) just have to get tired of seeing belows over the East for nearly 2 months straight. It's getting old. Give me a 2 foot glacier and below freezing temps through march and I'll be happy. I'll take severe weather when it gets here though. Scarlet Pimpernel
At some point you (read: most people) just have to get tired of seeing belows over the East for nearly 2 months straight. It's getting old. Well, I can understand that to a point. But for me personally, I get a whole lot more tired of seeing 90s to 100 for weeks on end during the summer along with belching humidity! And that's a lot more common around here than having a couple of months straight that are below normal in the winter. We are coming out of a period where it was above to well above normal from March through November.

And that's a lot more common around here than having a couple of months straight that are below normal in the winter. We are coming out of a period where it was above to well above normal from March through November. Amen to this. I live in Louisville and this past summer was terribly hot. From late May until late September, we had a near continuos string of days in the 90's. For portions of June, July, and August, it was near 100 and the heat index was darn near unbearable. I'm an avid golfer and there was a two week stretch in June where I just didn't play because it was so hot. Several times when I did play, I became light headed. No thanks to that. Give me the cold and the snow. We've endured so many warm winters that it's about time we had a few cold ones. I could stand for more snow though. Other than the big lake cutter that ruined the Metrodome and the two east coasters, it's just been small stuff through the midwest. We've had 10 inches here, but it's all come on one and two ich type storms.

I'll take severe weather when it gets here though. I root for extreme weather in each respective season and try to appreciate what I get. Exactly this is what I'd prefer as well and also concur that 90's and humidity gets way older faster than below normal with a glacier through March, lol. I love severe storms too but not the destruction things like Tornados and Hurricanes leave behind. I had my fill of extreme summer weather this past year when many folks in much of the NYC area experienced upwards of four tornado warnings in one summer! That is unheard of! Add to that the extreme heat and enough is enough. I live in a condo building and I will in all likelihood have to replace my third out of a total of three AC/Heating Units since my wife and I moved in in 2005. We have two bedrooms and a living room that has these wall units and because of the brutal summers we've had since moving I now will be out 5000 bucks when I replace my third and final unit due to last summer's heat. I am lucky the heat is working but I can be 100% positive the AC will not work when it needs to this summer. When you put a lot of money into renovating a place like we did when we moved in, as it was a necessity, the last thing you want to have to do is spend another $5000 after just 5 summers to replace three AC/heating units that were working just fine when we moved in .
