Still a number of places without power in Norman today. The Walmart on the east side of the city had windows blown in, and is flooded.

I went out with the balloon team last night, so unfortunately I missed the hail storm, but we got 50 to 60mph wind gusts and a spectacular lightning display.

Ahead of the storm there was some of the largest, most well defined mammatus I'd ever seen. Even a graduate meteorology student at OU said it looked like CGI in movies

Low topped, but impressive rotating storm in Eastern Illinois right now.

Epic fail

I really thought we would see a lot of reports from Missouri last night - was convinced of it. Did not do well on that forecast. Going to have to see what went wrong. Lot of the parameters were great. Perhaps not enough forcing. Cap was strong - but it did break in several areas.

LOL you are not the only one. Others here did as well including myself. SPC did a good job of toning down their probs with capping potential in their minds. The upper low and maximized mid level height falls came too late after max heating to develop significant late afternoon DMC. The effect was twofold in that LCL-LFC RH's were too high (dry air entrainment) and the cap was only erased over a rather small region. The late stuff was just a LLJ convective cluster of junk after a combo of nocturnal/dynamic LLJ and max mid level height falls. Honestly a couple hours too late on the shortwave propagation. Had it translated just a bit faster it could have been significant. Convection can be quite humbling. We had more reports in NE from that convective "junk" than they did in MO last night. That was not expected.
