I have just gotten back home after being at a gathering in downtown Bmore, and the storm that went through there earlier this evening was awesome. I was steaming a few bushels of crabs for friends when a lightning strike nearly had me diving in the steamer. No hail, and nothing more than heavy, heavy rain and wind, but watching the cloud to cloud lightning on the backside of the storm after a day as stifling as today was sheer pleasure.

Welcome summer. You can have the heat, but bring on the storms.

Someone in NE PW/extreme SE FFX has to be getting some good hail... i see a lot of pink centered there

decent vil right over the river now. big cape (still 1000-1500 + s/e at midnight) and nice lapse rates... hail/lightning

Yup... SWS still suggests ping pong ball sized hail in the storm... its kinda nice to see at midnight

there's actually probably a decent view of that cell from somewhere around here... too bad it's so late. ;) maybe it'll manage to give me a fringing.. some northward expansion now. atmos is going to be pretty hard to work over fully right now.
