CAT5ANDREW
I understand your point, but I've also been living here about 40 years longer than you...and experience does count for something (of course I didn't believe that when I was your age either).Regarding your "quiet" comment, you can stick that up your a**...this being a weather discussion forum.Sincerely,Bill Whoa Bill,Whats your problem? I have been living here for over 40 years as well and I believe we do get hit hard tonight.HM said that tounge and cheek to you,it was not meant with ill will,he never does that,he is one of the classiest posters here. BxEngine
HM is one of the best mets here. You are way out of line. He told you to be quiet, not to kill someone. Grow a set and listen. Sincerely, Bill Pretty lame after all these years (you're pretty old) you haven't learned to be scientific and objective. Whether they miss or not is irrelevant...the point is: you should know by now how t-storm dynamics work. A temporary weakening or strengthening upstream from your location means nothing in the long-term. In this case, you suggested things weren't looking good because of some weakening of the line upstream, even though the environmental conditions downstream were highly favorable for an additional pulsing up again (cyclic). Stormlover74
This is like during the winter when we have a good 4 to 8" storm and people are disappointed because its not 2 feet. I understand our area has been "shafted" this year so far, but this never looked like a classic outbreak for our area so if we get a strong thunderstorm with some 40 mph wind gusts be happy with that. who said it was going to memorable? nobody..this is a typical summer squall line from a cold front. Thunderdude
New line formed over Rockland and Puntum Counties and Warning should get issued for Rockland as well for Weschester also heading SE. They better not weaken or at least still be thunderstorms when they get to me.

earthlight
there is nothing stopping updraft regeneration as the storms move into new jersey..in fact any outflow boundaries will only help develop new storms. if not..the improved shear is right on the doorstep. CTNoreaster
Seems odd that Farmingdale, NY is reporting lightning distant northwest. I'm going to agree that its odd. I'm on the 10th floor looking north and see nothing in stamford.
meteorjosh
Exactly my point, my lack of posts doesn't equate to my lack of knowledge, while your lack of knowledge does equate to your plethora of posts...were you able to follow that? If you or HM knew who or what (career-wise) I am, you'd both be very very polite. I will not advertise, never have and never will (certainly not on an Internet discussion board). Good night and good luck with your storms. HM is prob one of the best mets on this board...please stop......there was more then enough reason to tell you to be quiet

HM
edit: those who speak (post) the most are often times the least worth listening to (we've lost that truism in modern America) This has to be the most ridiculous edit I've seen yet. It is really American to shut up and listen to ignorance because someone is older? I'll give you this: you're entertaining. Hey are you back on board again now that things have pulsed? bkviking
Wish I could send iPhone pic, but at Port Jeff Harbor and looks just like mammatus clouds above me rolling in--I'm used to seeing them post storm, but it sure looks like'em. Kudos to those saying that despite a good trigger, instability could be enough to do it.
