Well, as one would guess, I live in Maytown. I've had 5 separate Tornado warnings this season, 2 in the past 19 hours. I can tell all of you that out of all 5 of those storms only twice did we have anything more than what I would call a garden variety thunder shower. This past Thursday night was one of the worst storms I can recall in 45 years living around here. Incredible winds with lots of tree damage all around my immediate area. Last night it was the rain...nearly 4" fell in a 2 hour span from 8pm to 10pm. Today's storm looked far worse on radar than what we ended up with. (here at least)

But yeah, we seem to be a "hot spot" for storms, and I can tell you that my girls would be perfectly happy if we didn't see another one until next year...

Had a buddy down in Harford County, MD when the tornado warned storm came through. He's a fire chief. Said his company in Joppa only rain about 8 storm related calls, various ones, whereas the town over in Abingdon and BelAir rain 50 calls combined roughly due to "straight line wind " damage.

The wind was enough to sorta shift my car in the Walgreens Parking lot in Aberdeen,MD. That wind was crazy, I have attached a picture of the clouds and such, i still have to extract more stuff out of this. Had some pea sized hail, the sky was a pitch black with a green color and also somewhat of an off blue haze color. Then it just came down with heavy blinding rains and decent lightning. I chased to there I could have made it one more exit if i hadnt ran into horrible traffic at the damn toll that they are fixing for ezpass express lanes.

This may be a long shot but i could definitely see it happening. If we can get some thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon that can have some decent cloud tops and puncture through a low freezing level in the atmosphere, there could be some hail storms. Any convection that goes decently strong has a shot at it imho.

Is this in response to the potential backdoor cold front?

Hail storm as in a prolonged shower of hail or hail storm as in "you might see a little hail"?

small hail perhaps but I'm not too sold on severe criteria...

Apparently this board likes the chances for storms but the SPC thinks there's nothing even coming close to the area tomorrow. What's causing the huge difference?

Don't think anyone is really hyping it are they?

Nobody's hyping today, lol. And SPC does have us in the general thunderstorm area.

Yesterday SPC didn't have us in any general thunderstorm risk, while this thread was talking about possible storms with small hail. I'd say that's a pretty big difference...

as of now one storm is being progged for some small hail per wunderground storm tracks in southern jersey. The freezing level in the atmosphere right now is around 12,000-13,000 feet, so storm tops need to build higher than that to have any shot at small hail.

Good call last night and today.
