LithiaWx
I'm trying to come up with a different color table, one that really looks nice and stands out. If anyone has an example of one they like if you could pleas post it with the actual table and a pic or what it looks like. Thanks, Pearson aka Hawksfan
LithiaWx
Try GR Level X stuff TON of tables there - with some examples (In case you haven't been there already) thanks you
B-Rent
Has anyone here made their own tables? I took one from that site and modified it to my liking. I'll post it later on when I am on my laptop if I remember.

I'll post it later on when I am on my laptop if I remember. I've made a few over the years. It is easy as long as you can use 256 RGB color charts and some basic understanding. Here is a good primer: http://www.allisonhouse.com/grlevelx/manual/grlevel3/files_color_table.htm More info: http://66.228.121.56/trials/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=476&view=previous

I went through a few week long period where I could do nothing but grind out color tables... here are the ones I mostly use out of those: BR: SW: or this one (more suited for just analyzing turbulence) ET: VIL: VILD: NROT: The files are all available on grlevelxstuff in the downloads section... the titles are "Badger ____"

brettjrob
I find the default color tables shipping with the latest versions of GR3 to be a major hindrance to interpreting the data. The reflectivity scheme has far too high of a lower threshold (20 dBZ, I believe) to properly monitor boundaries and other non-precip echoes, and the velocity is not nearly sensitive enough for my tastes. I've attached my favorite tables for both. I think I got them both from GRLevelXStuff awhile ago. awips_reflectivity.txt awips_velocity.txt

My usual go to for reflectivity has full transparency at 21dbz.. 50% transparency at 13dbz and 0% at 5dbz. That works really well for filtering out ground clutter and considering I work the morning shift, there's often a lot of that to deal with (not always). I have the same color table with full transparency all the way down to 0dbz and another one that goes down to -30 for select situations like if I need to see an outflow boundary or if I'm tracking snow, etc.

I didn't even edit them like I do everything else. I just recently made a POSH and MEHS with transparancy. I don't remember what I based it off of. I'll post it next time I'm online at home.
