Whenever you have a sustained westerly component, there will be very hot air transported from Philly and the sandy soil of the Pine Barrens into the Atlantic City area. It's a recipe for meeting or exceeding MOS guidance.

Yup good point.....also, its alot easier to a seabreeze on a place like Long Island south shore (where any degree of wind south of due west can do the trick), in comparison to the Jersey Shore. Amazing how sandy soils (both locations) tend to heat up and cool off quicker than grassy areas with trees (other than pine).

Philly is north of ACY (in fact, ACY is around the same latitude at the city of Baltimore). Both cities have little, if any impact on temperatures at AC.

Here's a reading on pines and the impact on temperatures in Minnesota (different climate, different season but you can still have the same "micro heat island" from pines year around)....some parts of Northern Minnesota (as well as in the forests of Ontario and Manitoba) can torch on a sunny day in the summer rather well.

Soil is a factor as well (especially at night in cooling everyone off!)

I definitely learned something there. The ocean doesn't always make Atlantic City cooler in the summer.
