OHSnow
Does anyone know why a number of ASOS sites started reporting crazy obs last hour? Is it some sort of orchestrated hacking? I found at least four sites went down last hour. I know it's not unusual for a site to go down, but to have at least four sites (I wasn't even looking for problems, just happened to notice this) go down at the same time and start reporting spurious numbers seems suspicious. KJXN (Jackson, MI) reporting a temp of 82 and dewpoint of 24 (it was 90/74 the hour before) KBUF (Buffalo, NY): reported a dewpoint of 23 -- actually in the 60s KFDY (Findlay, OH): reported a temp of 57, dewpoint of 43 (actually about 95/65 per nearby obs), as well as dense fog and a spurious gusty northeast wind KBED (Bedford, MA): reported a temp of 68 (was in the 80s) and a north wind of 94 MPH!!! kab2791
I noticed that too about Jackson. Last hour's "temp" was 82, now it's 92...something wrong there.
OHSnow
Weird... all 4 are now reporting normal obs for this hour, and in the case of FDY and BUF, the obs from last hour have changed to a normal report. BUF was reporting clear skies with a temp of 82 and dewpoint of 23 last hour, that's been replaced with an ob of mostly cloudy and 77/62. And FDY's 57/43 and fog ob was replaced with a 92/68.
