Hey there, good to see ya on here. Yeah my crappy camera didnt get the clouds as good as I hoped but I was against time with the rain moving in. Yeah it started in the mid 90's and when the storm ended it dropped to 69* here. I should have paid attention to it as the storm got going but I was amazed at the rain and wind factors in play.

Thanks -- hope you are enjoying the summer so far. It was interesting that given the wind and other dynamics of the storm (which definitely merited svr criteria) that due to the very limited presence of lightning it really didn't feel so threatening. Wind and rain can't really hurt as long as you're not standing under something that's going to fall on you. Great way to wrap up an otherwise insufferably hot evening

So now that the 'split' region has been narrowing down over the past couple of weeks, is the "DC split" down to like 2 wards in DC and half of Fairfax County? : )

I was out in Dupont on Sunday before the 4th of July--- decent rain'er then

DCA split. Yeah that storm was good.. best day of the yr stormwise with the morning stuff. This one is decent, fairly standard summer storm tho.

You getting any winds in the storm Ian? I would guess we have 45-50 mph gusts when it got here earlier this evening.

a little in the beginning.. nothing to write home about. here's a high iso distorted multi-image pano of the outflow boundary.

Sweet shot bro. Looks like you can see the leaves in the trees on the left side blowing in the wind somewhat. Either that or my eyes are just tired. Still getting some light rumbles of thunder and vivid lighting strikes to my east every so often

I was in Italy last week, but even over there I saw a nasty hailstorm near Milan, with some of the darkest clouds I've ever seen.

Dude, we got rocked for over an hour... 4 inches of rain fell. Loudest thunder I've ever heard.

that's probably just the distortion, both sides are bending inwards.. didnt take enough photos at the edges.

Now, into the 2nd line. For some reason, the lightning is much more vivid and Cloud to Ground than the first one, even though it looks less impressive on radar. Definitely much louder. Any explanation?

You're in the Montclair area, right? Around Silvan Glen or so if I remember. I'd call it 'run of the mill' for Southbridge for round 1.

Oh boy, I think I spoke too soon. I think I heard a gust of wind, and the lightshow is now starting!
