Wow, just awesome, mother nature throwing her best in a long time here. Never seen the tree bend as much as they are now. Sideway rains, thunder lightning, good stuff. Similar to a FLA afternoon thunderstorm

bendy trees!!1!

i dunno, it dug itself deeper into the ridge. but these things usually curve more south than southeast if you trace them out. the apps still tend to kill convection without much doubt. i think these storms fired on the lee trough as the shortwave moved in, the outflow from the derecho/mcs is still further west.

I completely agree.. the downsloping was not the major culprit though today.. we still had very dp's.. and storms are still appearing somewhat healthy east of the blue ridge

Indeed, This is the worst storm I seen since been here in the last 2 years, just dumping copius amounts of rain fall. 1/4 mi vis at times and she is still going. Lost power 3 times in the last 10 mins. The wind is still blowing pretty good too. over half inch in the last 10 mins or so.

jealous. I have a 50/50 chance I think of rain. I watered the flowers but I just put up the windows in the hooptie.

i dont think there's really any downsloping today.. just the mtns act as a wall to most things hitting it. the models were terrible with the derecho but they had a distinct shortwave passing through southern pa this eve.

I will do my best to make it shift SE towards you,. I would hate to be in a plane right about now landing at IAD. Holy Crap

.56 rain here in the guage, temps went from the low to mid 90's to 69 in 20 mins as well as the total rainfall in 20 min. Small river running through the backyard now

Yes, but that is not the actual line we are discussing.. that is an outflow storm from the actual storm that went west.. just being specific

not really outflow.. that was what they were warning to the west of the popups out front. hpc had a lee trough analyzed earlier.

in the end it doesnt really matter because most will think we got hit by the chicago derecho...

Happy for you, Dave. This was a classic lee trough that fired like it "always" does. Leesburg's not in a bad spot when that happens, in spite of what the poster formerly known as Leesburg04 maintained.
