mountains don't just steal our snow in winter

they also steal our rain in summer

that downsloping is pure murder

Change your tune pretty quickly, huh?

Don't know why - this entire spring now early summer - Northern VA is a lightning rod for rain and storms - Summer Stormageddon nonstop since April. All the storms are knockin down my door for the funky cold medina

Frontal boundaries love the mid atlantic this season - lots of storms. Here it is early July and lawns are still green - crews that mow medians are struggling to keep up. Better get your mower tuned up - this pattern ain't letting up anytime soon

i guess the earlier outflow outran the storms so they're warning the old boundary. the activity along it does not look that impressive tho you can see some decent wind on velocity scans.

I'm seeing these posts about how the mountains were our downfall but bottomline.. it was really the trajectory of the ridge that sent the mcs to our sw.. now we just have outflow storms

i dunno, it dug itself deeper into the ridge. but these things usually curve more south than southeast if you trace them out. the apps still tend to kill convection without much doubt. i think these storms fired on the lee trough as the shortwave moved in, the outflow from the derecho/mcs is still further west.
