hawkeye_wx
It was looking like CR might get missed, but a nasty storm blew up at the last minute at the tail end of the line. It hailed here for about ten minutes with most of it ~0.50" diameter. There were other larger chunks with at least one 1.25" chunk that bounced up on the deck. I think that stone was about equal to the largest I've ever seen here. I guess I can no longer say we never get hail. There were a couple reports of golfball size just northeast of me in the city. cyclone77
The line segment near Mount Carroll looks pretty impressive. Looks like it's going to race east and impact Dekalb eventually, and maybe even Chicago later on. We're about to get outflowed here, so wind damage threat here looks minimal from the stuff moving in from the west.

Chicago Storm
The line segment near Mount Carroll looks pretty impressive. Looks like it's going to race east and impact Dekalb eventually, and maybe even Chicago later on. We're about to get outflowed here, so wind damage threat here looks minimal from the stuff moving in from the west. Decent amount of reports coming out of the line(Jo Daviess Co.) Not sure why the portion around Freeport isn't warned...greatest wind damage potential is in that area.

Hoosier
Outflow boundary is running way out ahead of the line. Storms might be okay in the short term but that is usually not something you want to see for long term sustenance (of severe at least).

OFB from the WI storms in central Kane Co about on Rt 64 heading south. How is the lighthing to your north? Not too bad. There's a lot of lower clouds overhead now that's blocking quite a bit of it I think. Getting quite a few flashes, but they're pretty faint due to the thick lower clouds. Outflow just blew through here. Temp only dropped from 84 to 83, but my dewpoint dropped from 70 to 64.
BowMeHunter
Came in with some nice gust approaching 60, sick lightning but no hail go figure. Power went out immediately for about 10 mins. The good stuff lasted about 15 seconds and then it was just an ordinary garden variety t-storm. Good thing the line crapped the bed as 60mph gust are about all this area can handle me thinks before the **** really hits the fan.

outflow
interesting to watch the obs. as the line of storms that runs east/west across michigan moves east, the showers at the leading edge are drying up and causing mini heat bursts with temps jumping 3-6 degrees and dps dropping 5-10 degrees only to rebound within a half hour. SEMIweather
I'm not sure if the Michigan portion of the line will be able to maintain its severity all the way over to my neck of the woods, as shear is pretty week and the HRRR shows CAPE on the wane as the night goes on. Still though, I'd expect to at least get some lightning/thunder later tonight, which will be nice after eight days of no precipitation.
cyclone77
Wondered why my satellite kept cutting out. Checked the echo tops and there's a 40kt tall cell blowing up right overhead. Not even raining here though. The overall trend in eastern Iowa is for the storms to weaken. Looks like things are progressing more towards heavy rain threat from here on out for areas to the west here.

Yeah I am concerned over the shear aspect although the 0-1km shear is not bad atm, and the instability hasn't waned too much yet.

The outflow here only kicked winds from dead calm up to maybe 10-15mph. Must have been very shallow. Our temp is still 80.

wisconsinwx
Although most of the areas getting hard hit with rain this week can take a few inches of rain at least, I would think flooding might be an issue by the end of the week. Many areas in the Western Great Lakes are probably getting 1-4 inches tonight, with another 1-2 possible on Friday.
