michsnowfreak
Figured this was worthy of its own thread. I know its been wet in much of the area, not to mention one of the most active starts to severe season in memory. So feel free to add stats for your location as well. DTW had 14.60" of precip in Spring (MAM), making it the 2nd wettest spring on record, behind only Spring of 1947 when 16.31" fell. Also, Detroit set a new record for spring for most days with measurable precipitation, as 2011 saw 52 such days! The old record was 50 days set in 1953. Though there is no official record notating the following (other than finding all the skycover data, which would be quite a chore lol) I also would venture a guess this was one of the cloudiest springs on record. The 92-day average skycover from March 1 - May 31 was 7.9 out of a possible 10. Also of note, the May temp departure at DTW was +0.9F (much thanks to the last 2 days), so this broke a string of 5 consecutive months (Dec-Apr) of below normal temperatures! So the first 5 months of 2011 (Jan 1 - May 31st)...DTW has seen 19.73" of precipitation 59.8" of snowfall (winter total was 69.1") MBY numbers: Spring (MAM) precip: 15.58" Jan. 1 - May 31st: Precip- 21.23" Snowfall- 60.2" (winter total was 69.4") ***** Flint saw its wettest spring on record, with 17.00" of precip http://www.crh.noaa....=68355&source=
