Did you notice the smell? The smell along Stony Ford where is was flooded was quite noticeable, as was the water line on all of the vegetation.

When I see pictures of people playing in the flood water last week I assume they have no idea what they're playing in.:yikes:

@ 14 Orange Co starts flooding around the Black Dirt area and other lowlands along the river.

One thing I learned from Irene is that the gauge there doesn't really help us with the flooding around here as it was at action stage and we still had water everyplace. I looked at the river this morning and it wasn't much higher than yesterday near me, which is a good thing.

I forgot to measure last night at midnight... but our 1.5 day total since I last emptied the rain gauge was 2.76"

This goes along with the 2.20" we got the last two days, pushing our total to 4.96"... and yes its still raining axesmiley.png

The rain has thankfully lightened up quite a bit but there's still flooding all over the place. I have over 21" of rain in the last six weeks.....

It was one heck of a drive from Newburgh along 84 into Pa. and down along 209 to Bushkill. Flooding all over with stranded cars thru the National park on 209. The Delawere river water level is really up there. :flood:

The Walkill was still up yesterday and the property along it is in poor shape from Irene. What a mess

Cemetery rd/ Philipsburg rd was open for the first time yesterday since Irene in Walkill. There is mud and silt covering the ground.

In Wallkill, Cemetery rd/ Philipsburg rd was flooded and the east main st "monkey farm bridge" had water 3 inches below the road surface yesterday @ 5:30pm. I can only imagine whats going there today. Goshen Village was flooded this morning but at a lesser depth then Irene, still a mess.

The Wallkill is still over its banks in T O Wallkill, East Main St / Monkey Farm Bridge by ORMC is closed along with Cemetery Road. The water is up to the fence line at Kaz Kill Farm on Goshen Tpk.

East Main St closing because of heavy rain events is a real problem for people trying to get to the newly opened ORMC. I hope the county will look in to preventing it from flooding out.

When NYSDOT does exit 122 the problems with flooding on East Main will be resloved. The bid for that work was to be awarded this spring but a contractor is protesting the award, not sure when it will be awarded.

lol no comment

I think NYSDOT and OC need to do a better job communicatingthe alternate route to people attempting to get to the hospital when East Mainis closed. Signs are needed before the Rt 17 Crystal Run exits and along thealt route guiding them to the ER. People unfamiliar to the area would have difficultyreaching the hospital.
