You are correct it does flow south to north. Many have been saying for a while, and I agree, that another gauge should be installed futher upstream someplace in Orange County which would be much more useful for us since it wouldn't be downstream. There probably should be a gauge intalled on the Moodna Creek as well.

Here is the video of your old stomping ground. This is the bridge on Old Forge Hill Rd and the rear road into Butterhill.

Yep , know that area well, thanks for posting. I heard second hand at work today that the structure of that bridge appears OK it the approach that got washed out. Out course the creek changed course a bit so the fix may not be as simple as it could be when compared to other damaged bridges that have structural damage. I was thinking about this earlier today, some of the repairs needed out there are complicated by a change in watercourse too.

Man is it me or is there a good amount of color already on trees in the area?

Around here I've noticed the usual suspect trees are changing, the older and diseased trees. I'm not sure how good the color will be this year will all of the recent rain. For the best color we would typically WS FYI get inti a dry spell now.

I was about to post a topic about this. Here at 1,230 feet in the Poconos, i'm already noticing some color on the trees. I'm going to take a ride up the road next weekend, and see what some of the 2,000 foot peaks look like already.

Ppl along the Walkill & Ramapo rivers better be on the lookout! Not to mention other tributaries such as the Moodna..Woodbury...Shawangunk etc..

The Walkill was still up yesterday and the property along it is in poor shape from Irene. What a mess

You know, I drove right past it this morning and didn't even think to look over to see how high it was, like duh! I'll report back this evening. I know that it was at bankful yesterday morning before the rain even started.

Cemetery rd/ Philipsburg rd was open for the first time yesterday since Irene in Walkill. There is mud and silt covering the ground.

In case you missed it, go here, http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov/gallery/individual.php?db_date=2011-09-03 this is a picture of the hudson and other waterways after irene. Hover your mouse over the picture to compare a pre Irene pic. Look at all that mud and silt

Ive been driving over the Bear Mtn Bridge the past week and also noticed how muddy and filthy the Hudson looked.
