42nd street Manhattan got nothing while Canal Street had a torrential downpour.Sharp cutoff between heavy rain and no rain.

Same here all dry. Though I did hear a VERY powerful thunderclap. I mean it was loud!

Yeah almost constant thunder for awhile-- almost sounded like the old fashioned sonic booms when the Concorde used to be in service!

It was torrential here in Rego park.I know about manhattan because I watch Channel 72 on Time Warner cable. There are traffic cameras for all 5 boroughs and it is amazing during thunderstorms how some places get bombed while others escape with nary a drop.I missed the heaviest storm though that occured several fridays ago.I heard that one really was torrential with a lot of flooding by the Clearview/Cross island Parkway.I was in Westchester that day.

A Sonic Boom is LOUD.Window breaking loud.Louder than Thunder.I thought the Concorde didnt get to Supersonioc speed until it was well away from land.

This was a good thunderstorm though.the dews rose again though so it is torrid outside.

I thought I heard sonic booms, because the windows would shake violently and sometimes the whole building I was in would back in the Concorde days-- oh, how I miss that lol.

It's good to see the 18z model runs upping the rain amounts from convection around NYC Metro area through Friday night since it

has been dry around here lately.

It's got to be more than just convection-- we also have that system coming up the coast injecting tropical moisture into the mix. I'm sick of hit and miss convection, we never get anything out of that around here.

do a Youtube search for the space shuttle sonic boom in titusvile Fla.DOnt put your speakers on full blast.

I have friends that live near Conklin Ave south of Broadway in Woodmere I believe(about 3/4ths of a mile from the train station.)The bugs there are horrendous, with these high dewpoints,it must be murder there.

Yet another afternoon of hvy storms here in Monmouth County, feels like I'm living in Florida. 0.22" this afternoon with gusty winds and loud thunder. Now just about 2" of rain for July already!

High was 91.2 today making my 4th 90F+ for the season.

Is that a record?

18z GFS has close to .50" widespread of rain tomorrow. It's an organized area of rain from a broad low pressure plus some instability.

Would like to see models bump the precip north starting with tonights 0z runs.

We can use a soaking 1-1.50" of organized rain.

I drove through a heavy thunderstorm on the Meadowbrook a few hours ago but it was lighter down here at the beach.

So far this summer most of the storms have either been to south or north of us.My only decent rain here in Long Beach

was on June 17th.
