Yup, but if you noticed what was going on in the morning, even Shirley and Westhampton Beach had northerly winds while JFK had already switched to southerly by 11 AM. Im not complaining because I already reached 91 lol-- I guess my being inland by 2.5 miles helped me avoid the sea breeze for long enough to do that. Actually, with the sun out in full force again, the temps are going up again.

Is the JFK ASOS right on the water? I remember someone posting a pic showing it was basically right on the Bay.

yes, which makes sense since JFK is built on reclaimed land from the bay (garbage) lol. My high was 93.6 around 11am, 89.4 now

That looks weird lol-- but I guess LGA is lagging because of the ENE winds there?

And the winds are due north at Islip for some reason, they always switch to southerly later than JFK does (unless there is a backdoor front), even though they are farther out into the Ocean.

It's the stationary front stalled across the area.

LOL yeah-- Gateway Recreational Area is nice-- but not the region JFK is built on-- it's basically a swamp surrounded by garbage.

What was your high so far today?

Thunderstorms are starting to fire over the higher terrain in NW NJ, looks like pulse severe storms are likely this afternoon even without a pronounced trigger...

Yeah, the weak convergence along the stationary front is serving as the focus for development from PA into NJ.

2pm update...NYC hits 91, in between hours.

LGA: 89

NYC: 89

JFK: 90

EWR: 95

LGA hit 90 in between hours as well.

Newark hit 96 in between hours.

JFK hit 92 in between hours

lol weird, we got all switched around. Looks like the sea breeze went away but somehow NYC temp went down.

Highs so far today:

EWR: 96

LGA: 90

NYC: 91

JFK: 92

ISP: 91

Looks like with all the temps bouncing around we all ended up with similar numbers, outside of EWR of course.

The sea breeze went away and so did the clouds.

Wow JFK was 90 on a due southerly wind at 13..... see the sea breeze doesnt matter that much this time of year thru September.... we hit 90 even on a southerly wind (with sunshine of course).

water temps in the low 70s helps, thats why our dews are so high all of a sudden on a south wind. If we can get water into the mid 70s its going to be a very humid second half of the summer.

It might be there already, last I checked water temps were at 74 :(

It's overcast now (a high thin overcast but still), its caused the temps to drop a few degrees because the sun is now gone.

Greenish/grayish skies & lightning in SE Queens, down to 87 degrees.

Edit: I just saw 4 thick lightning bolts strike, my cue to get inside lol. Starting to rain now.

lol yea thats not safe weather to be outside in.

No rain here but its overcast. Is this storm going to skip this area? I hear thunder but nothing falling yet.
