Look how this coastal storm is sneaking up on us for this weekend. Another shift west, and this weekend will be a washout and well below normal. And only 24 hours ago, less then 96 hours on models, the weekend looked sunny and upper 80's to low 90's.

day 10 pattern, take with a grain a salt.. Wait, you know this already lol

The current  UKMET looks like the GFS in hitting southern areas the hardest Friday into Friday night before pulling away on Saturday. Both models are hinting at a sharp cutoff of precip to the north. We'll see how the models handle the location of the heaviest convectionover the next few days.

FEB 6 2010.

Heh, I'd like to see that in the winter too, slowly moving further north with each model run and before you know it the forecast has changed from sunny and cold with highs in the 30s to snowy and windy.

Ratios will suck this weekend.

So much for no chance of rain today and 10% chance tonight. Closing in on 1" of rain here in Monmouth, with nearly constant thunder/lightning for the past 2 hours. Was out in Freehold since 12 and couldn't believe how quickly conditions deteriorated. Judging by the winds and frequency of the thunder it seemed severe, and sure enough when I arrived back home 10 minutes ago I saw the warning for Monmouth.

High gust was 28mph here, but I'd imagine just SE of me there were 40+ gusts.

Question is a "heat wave" criteria 3 days of 90+ at those location? And what are the avg highs right now

Average high for today is 84.

LGA and NYC didnt reach 90 today or yesterday.

JFK did yesterday and Newark reached it today and yesterday.

Monmouth county went from snow capital of the east coast to new thunderstorm capital. I've literally had 4 'storms' all season with none being remotely severe

Yeah tell me about it. Nearly 5" of rain since late June, lawn looks like a jungle. I always joke about the Monmouth T-storm shield as it seems like year after year, we're in the screw zone convection wise. Can't say that this season - the shield has been broken and then some. 4.44" of rain for June and 1.65" so far in July.

Between the past 2 winters and now the T-storm season, the rich get richer here. Now we just need a tropical cyclone.
