The history of weak la ninas like 1966-67 and 1995-96 is that they have a very strong backside (Feb, Mar, even April)...... that would have been crazy if that happened..... imagine combining December and January of this past winter and the Feb/Mar/April of 1966-67 or 1995-96....

I yearn for a full winter December 1 through April 1 nonstop snow and cold or at least very few interruptions.

sorry but this is not summer weather sky conditions. Although the morning was sunny it once again is cloudy in the afternoon marking probably the 12th straight cloudy afternoon..seriously. Where are the mostly sunny skies because we certainly have not had them since the heatwave

The weekends may not have had rain the past few weeks but they have been mostly cloudy, thats not summer. We desperately need a ridge, this cloudy dark weather is getting old real quick

yep, we were mostly sunny until about 1 PM then pretty heavy cloud deck set in. Same thing happened over the weekend but we never had that much sun to begin with

Can anyone explain why we are not getting mostly sunny skies anymore even as fronts clear the area

Maybe you have the same problem as Josh Hamilton, do you have blue eyes?

I feel like shooting Francesa, wtf cares what color his eyes are lol. They've been talking about eye color and day baseball for like the past 2 hours. The Rangers aren't winning with him or without him-- the Yankees beat them like a AAA team. Why do these callers care so much about Hamilton?

He's an effing drug addict.... that's the reason.

lol@ this caller "I have had blue eyes my entire life and I know many other people who have had blue eyes their entire life." Morons!

Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Its not guaranteed especially back East. Often times a cold frontal passage is followed by a trough of low pressure aloft and instability from cooler air aloft will cause a cloud deck to form.

Surprised there has been no talk about the potential severe weather threat tomorrow. Looks like the potential is definitely there for organized storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts. There may even be some organized stuff into the evening hours.

Well potential would probably be there for you inland folks who can get a storm without trying lol.....for us coastal folks on the other hand a lot of things would have to happen for us to get something severe, not trying to be negative but storms for the coast this season haven't been too promising and few and far between....hopefully we can get something going today though :-)

Central Park is now only +1.1 for the month:

LGA is also +1.1 for the month:

Newark is +2.5 for the month:

now today finally felt like a return to summer and it looks like finally that big glorious orange ball will take over for the next week and maybe beyond as it should this time of year.:guitar:

Gorgeous wx today with high of 82.0F IMBY, dews around 60. Just enough humidity to make for a perfect pool day yet also comfortable for walking/running/enjoying the outdoors.

Very nice temps over the next few days with moderate humidity; excellent beach/pool wx. I think this is a good middle ground for board members -- the cool crew gets their low dews and the warm crew still gets sun and temps in the low - mid 80s.
