MJW155
Had a few heavy rain bands earlier today. Nothing much to get excited about.
wi_fl_wx
We had a rainbow at the same time as the nice sunset. I tried to take a few pictures, not sure if they will turn out or not. There was not enough light.
bic
We had a rainbow at the same time as the nice sunset. I tried to take a few pictures, not sure if they will turn out or not. There was not enough light. I took a quick video of the scene with my phone. If you pay close attention you can catch parts of the rainbow over the Beach and even some lightning over South Biscayne Bay. It was a spectacular sunset! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buINlH7MTUk
icebreaker5221
Really intense and close CG right now! Can hear a few car alarms going off. Looks like some classic training of echoes developing down here in Dade. Could be in for a serious toad strangler!
icebreaker5221
Beautiful sunset after a day of heavy rain. Really nice man! I caught a glimpse of it between CBs before the rain started again, you got lucky!
wi_fl_wx
Epic toad strangler today at FIU. Very nasty. Storm had great structure, some rotation, and a lowered base. I bet there are waterspouts with the ones off the coast right now.
turtlehurricane
We also had some toad strangling action around when y'all posted about it. Now there's a solid area of moderate stratiform rain across all of SE FL, good drought busting stuff and some of the most widespread rain in awhile. Temps in the mid-70s across the metro areas from hours of rain, about as cold as it can get for this time of year.

Those were some sweet radar shots yesterday I had a pedestrian boomer with a solid .25 Wet season needs to kick it up a notch statewide but many local areas are getting it good. I had a friend from NJ here since Saturday and all he could talk about was how it felt and looked like Jurassic Park I was surprised not to see any storm reports out of Palm Beach County for yesterday. We left North PB at 5:30 and were caught in a wicked storm. I would estimate winds gusted to 50mph. There were numerous large palm fronds down and flooding of roads. Traffic lights were out for about a two mile stretch on US 1 heading north towards PGA Blvd.

I didn't lose power but there were a lot of power outages in the area.
icebreaker5221
It looks like anomalous westerlies will continue the next couple days, keeping precipitation chances well above climo for the east coast. I'm enjoying this wet spell.
dolebot_broward_nw
I must be getting used to the heat and humidity because it doesn't even faze me anymore. When I first moved down here (early 1998), I used to open my door to my car, turn it on (while standing outside) - crank up the AC to full fan, roll down all the windows except the drivers front, and open and close the door for a good 2 minutes, to try and fan some of the heat out of it. Now I just get in and go and sweat for a minute till the air kicks in. I'm fully acclimated. I went up to PA (north of philly) in November for a training session for 4 days and boy was it EVER cold! Those boys from up north took it in stride and only had a hoodie. I had a flannel, hoodie, 2 pairs of pants, and a heavy coat and was still shivering in that 32F air. (I'm guessing the dreaded easterlies that move oh so many great t-storms into the swamp) Is there ever a time of year where westerlies are the norm? Yes, the normal flow for this time of year would be easterlies. Easterlies dominate during the summer and early fall, more so in south FL than north FL. Westerlies are the norm over north FL in the winter, and also more common (although not necessarily the norm) in S. FL in the winter.
toad strangler
More drought relief pretty much state wide today and yes, the general Tampa area made out as usual. We need the late August to Halloween period to keep on giving in order to truly squash deficits. A large slow moving land falling tropical thingy would be an upper cut

Akeem the African Dream
I wonder if someone across the Central Peninsula sees a record low maximum today. Does anyone know where I can find the record low maxes for Orlando, Melbourne, and Daytona are listed? I can't locate them in the climatology reports. ocala
Things look to dry out a bit for N central Florida the next few days. Rains the last two days have been decent but nothing great. Still no sign of flwxwatcher45. I looked back a few pages because I thought he said he was going on vacation but it must have been someone else. I thought it was out of the ordinary that he never checked in once during the days of Emily, vacation or no vacation being the major tropical that he is which made me comment on his absence. dolebot_broward_nw
Aye, the lemon seems to be related to the somewhat peristent trough thats been filling our afternoon with rain down here, and helping Tampa earlier in the day.
Akeem the African Dream
Here you go. http://www.weather.g...dex.php?wfo=mlb I can not locate where the record low max and record high minimums are located. The reports only list the record high and low. We got some sunshine late in the day yesterday which bumped our temps up and we avoided the record low max.
