PottercountyWXobserver
You guys in the North will have to tell us down in the valley more, how the 40's feel. I can't wait, tonight is suppose to be a low 48°F and tomorrow night.....dare I say low of 40°F which would be sooooo awesome. This summer has been the worst in my opinion in terms of heat for the last 10 years, but thats not saying much since I'm only 22 and haven't lived through the brutal heat during the late 80s and early 90s. Although my first weather memory is of the 93 super storm, albeit very vaguely! Is it me or does the heat look to return on the longer range GFS, ugggh I guess we better enjoy the cool down while it lasts.

Combined with the +PNA sliding towards neutral, its going to give the ridge a chance to build further East, but I don't think the main ridge axis plants over the East. More like it bridges East. Should be interesting when combined with the fact we are getting into the heart of tropical season.

Perfect radiational cooling night with the high directly overhead.

Perfect radiational cooling night with the high directly overhead. Yeah we usually do quite well with radiational cooling, I sit in a sheltered valley and the cool air drains of the ridge tops nicely around here. Although, I'm wondering why the NWS shifted my overnight temps tomorrow up nearly 10°F. They are now saying it stays near 49°F, huh wonder why. The only thing I can think of is increasing cloud cover, windy, or very thick fog keeping temps up a little more than they previously thought. canderson
If it had been 10 degrees cooker, I would've sworn it was early October today. Beautiful.
PottercountyWXobserver
Already down to 57°F...should be interesting to see how low it goes. If heavy fog develops early overnight, it may prevent the temps from reaching the low 40s. Today was absolutely perfffect, too bad we won't keep these temps for long. hckyplayer8
Surprised the fish weren't biting well due to the sunny, cool conditions. KBFD down to 51F. Still pretty darn warm here, when compared to our forecasted low of mid 50's. Sitting at 69F.

A general rule of thumb in my experience is cold fronts put fish into a bit of a funk - they either hang tight to cover or they go deep. They also don't feed as much, especially bass. The best time is right before a cold front this time of year. I really don't like to fish after cold fronts in the summer, but I do anyway because I am, um, hooked. This guy has perfect advice, it's for bass, but it seems to apply to a lot of other fish: http://fishing.about.com/library/weekly/aa030600a.htm Dropped to 49° this morning...wasn't expecting us to get below 50. JamieOber
Might end up with an inch of rain for today, still at .61 but a heavy t-storm is approaching. But if we do get to 1 inch, not at all in the way I envisioned.
