PottercountyWXobserver
H 87°F today uggh. I see the GFS keeps hinting at a trough developing in the long range, but I'v been waiting for this scenario for the past week and I'm still wating. At this point I guess August is going to TORCH also

JamieOber
Was 95 here. Drier than ever. Is your area normally drier than surrounding areas due to being in a valley or something? You are especially bad this year but this seems to be a recurring theme. Overall, seems like a lot of areas are doing better, with this week looking decent for rain, along with the long range chances. Hope we can get people like you some rain finally. Ya I think it is because of being surrounded by mountains. With no rain today it places me at -4.53" since June 1st.

West Point, NY
Up here we use something called a sprinkler to water the lawn everyday. My soil is sand, yet my lawn today is thick and green.

West Point, NY
We aren't wasting water for that. I will gladly waste water along with all of my neighbors so our properties are kept green and lush. My summer water bill is 30 bucks a month.......a small price to pay for curb appeal (ie: higher property value). Funny, as I type this, my neighbor across the street just had his sprinklers pop up out of the lawn and start watering

Even people that water everyday has brown in their yard. It's just too hot and too dry.

hckyplayer8
LOL lawn people. This. Having green grass is overrated. Oh, we need a new subtitle as the brunt of the summer heat looks to be behind us.

PottercountyWXobserver
NAM is really hinting at a nice MCS forming Tuesday night into Wednesday morning for northern PA. Although the NAM shows 2.30" of QPF the GFS shows 1.10". The NAM is almost always high on totals so I'm going to guess 1.4" , seems like a fairly good estimate for the time period. Thoughts? Hoping for maybe a storm this afternoon and/or Wednesday, things are drying out rapidly after last week's rain. Already 90.5° here...gonna be a warm one. I feel your pain, everything is just south of me, the stupid cold front pushed through faster than I thought it would this afternoon, couldn't get anything to fire. The front is sliding through as I type, the DP are starting to drop quite steadily. This afternoon around 130PM was a brief sprinkle thats it! Everything is still dry and we desperately need this MCS to form overnight Tue-Wed morning.

PennMan
I'm home early from work due to a power outage from the storms here. Picked up 0.57" of rain, not bad...although I don't think I've ever seen the wunderground radar overestimate rainfall so badly. It has us in the 4-5" range for the day...lol. High was 96.4°
