WOW at the record heat that affected the area over Thursday and Friday! I was in Chicago from Thursday-Sunday so I didn't get a chance to witness the heat here but Chicago was just as hot if not hotter. When the wind blew it felt like someone held up a blowdryer to my face it was misserable  even the overnight temps were impressive. Lets just say I hope I never see 101°F in my lifetime again uggh. We did manage to pick up some rain showers yesterday afternoon but not enough to make a difference in the drought areas, only .31" of rain. I was suprised to have a massive gust front with the line of storms that did roll through yesterday, It not down several trees and some fell on powerlines. I saw that the 00Z GFS longrange was hinting at a decent trough developing and much cooler air temperatures, but that has since changed with the 12Z runs.

NWS seems to have backed off quite a bit on it. We only get to 90 on Friday, rest is more or less run of the mill summer heat.

Yeah, increased chance of rain hurts the chance of big heat Friday as the front slides through. That should keep things mostly in the 80s over the weekend. Probably another run into the 90s, though, next week.

Yeah, I guess no pattern flip in early August like I was reading a few were thinking.

The rain chances are fantastic. Hope they hold up.

finally some decent rain here.

no rain gauge but id estimate .25"

We have really been cashing in here in Port Matilda. My gauge measured .89 to bring up the week's total to 1.70. Hope you get more today, I'm satisfied with what we have.

Man, is the garden ever looking good. Unfortunately, our grass is rocketing in the shadier parts of the yard. Oh well, good mulch for the garden.

S. Central PA is the worst.. Watched storms fall apart right over me again. A few sprinkles here. Let the drought continue.

last summer it seemed like york/lancaster got killed almost every event and my parents house in levittown would get screwed...and of course i move out here this summer and lancaster has literally gotten maybe 1 good storm this year and my parents house has gotten hammered storm after storm... i can't win
