This is one of those days when the SPC mesoanalysis says zero (or less than 25) CINH, but there's got to be something stopping parcels from becoming huge storms in the tornado watch box.

700mb temps sill running from 10-15C across the watch area.

What a crapfest... I had a sinking feeling as soon as those storms fired at 3pm in 88/64 type readings. Should've just started the drive back to OK right then, might've been able to make it without needing a motel. Just left the tornado-warned storm currently heading out of Rock Co. into Holt Co. -- it felt like it was about 60 degrees in its inflow region.

Just SSW of Fargo, ND looks prime, but man those H7 temps are ugly sitting at 13C. Looks like they are trying to fire on vis sat though.

I'd guess there will be initiation up there within an hour or so. 700mb temps are certainly cooling from the SW to NE as the upper level jet streak moves in and heights fall. Definitely some convergence for things to fire once the cap weakens a little more.

just took a look at the 21z ruc soundings and compared them to reality for KRWF and KMSP. the lid's theoretically blown in RWF (with the line of clouds from KMOX to KSDA) while MSP is close to blowing (clear as a bell outside here in st paul but clouds trying to go from MCW to PEX).

Derecho appears to be setting up for a long trek from Central Nebraska to Western Iowa over the next few hours.

PDS Severe Thunderstorm Watch stating that 90 MPH winds are likely, WOW! Could be an exciting night around Omaha, fingers crossed that people across Central and Eastern Nebraska are aware of this potentially very dangerous situation.

you'd better hope they get the fans home from WWE raw in time down in OMA. they should be out in time, but i'm not sure they know about the watch outside of the stadium personnel.
