... A Tornado Warning remains in effect for extreme southwestern will

and Kankakee counties until 115 PM CDT...

At 1242 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a

severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous

storm was located 6 miles southeast of Gardner... or 11 miles east of

Dwight... moving east at 55 mph. Radar indication of rotation has

diminished slightly... but the environment is conducive to squall

line tornado development.

Locations impacted include...

Bourbonnais... Kankakee... Bradley... Manteno... Momence... Herscher...

Aroma Park... St. Anne... Grant Park... Hopkins Park... Bonfield...

Irwin and Sun River Terrace.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take cover now. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a Mobile home... a vehicle or

outdoors... move to the closest substantial shelter and protect

yourself from flying debris.

Intense squall lines can occasionally produce brief tornadoes in

addition to widespread significant wind damage. Although not

immediately likely... for your protection move to an interior room on

the lowest floor of your home or business. This storm has the

potential to cause serious injury and significant damage to property.

For anyone wondering, this squall line initially started out as a large cluster of elevated storms in southeast Nebraska/southwest Iowa between 3-4am. The numerous elevated cells quickly coalesced into a solid line as it pushed east through Iowa.

Here's a radar evolution of the first few hours.

Stay safe bud.

Thanks cyclone. Super impressive winds here...came in 3 distinct pulses in a short time...large limbs off the trees here in the neighborhood. Heard a big bang...thinking there's probably a large limb on the roof of the house. We'll see once the rain stops...which was/is a total whiteout.
