SpartyOn
00z GFS says summer cancel after tonight. Nonstop rain and cool temperatures. lol. IMO temps near normal for early June isn't a cancel. I guess it depends on your local region. Friday - Monday look "cool" for SEMI low-mid 70s. Only thing canceled around here is the deathly heat..Which is welcomed by even the most seasoned heat lovers. We need some rain..I haven't seen lawns brown up this fast in many years. Hoosier
LAF's rain gauge must be fixed. 0.34" with the storms that rolled through in the middle of the night. Really loud thunder with those storms. Wind kicked up pretty good too.
Hoosier
We were pretty dry heading into last night's and this mornings rains, but if anything like this repeats over the next 48 hrs or so, there are going to be hydro concerns. There was a band of 4-6" from Sterling through Lowell. Who knows how much more to come in the next day or two but if that same corridor gets trained on... dmc76
The 95F yesterday at DTW was the hottest temp since August 1, 2007, and todays 96F was the hottest temp since August 1, 2006 when it hit 97F, nearly 5 years! It is the 4th day of the year for DTW to reach 90+, so we are already one-third the way to climo (12 days) for a year. As oppressive as these two days have been, its not even technically a heatwave (a heatwave, meteorologically, is classified as 3 or more consecutive days of 90F+). And the great news, no more heat in sight! WOOHOO!

River Card
00z GFS says summer cancel after tonight. Nonstop rain and cool temperatures. It's not even offcially summer yet, I doubt were canceling anything. There will be plenty of 90's in bursts to come, nothing sustained though, just spikes. BowMeHunter
well if it has to be bad weather on your vacation days it might as well do it right and make it perfect painting weather in June. Wind Chill in the low to mid 40's all day after 93 record tying degrees yesterday.. Gotta love the MW. High of 69 will go in the record books while the max temp during daylight has been 52 so far. Looks like this weekend will bring perfect temps in the 60's to finally detail the outside of the vehicles that we've slacked on since last fall. I would expect nothing less with the way this spring has gone to go from August weather to April weather. Now flooding may be an issue for areas just north and west of here that received close to 5 inches of rain based on Chicago's rainfall estimate map. This is considering there might be another couple inches on the way for tonight through tomorrow night.

Chicago WX
LAF pulls an 85 out of its rear end today. Some relatively slow moving cells right now, that were previously TOR warned in IL, to our west but it looks like they'll miss wide to the south. Looks like a new cell went up (or it split...haven't been looping radar) in northern Warren county which might give us a closer pass.

Every Fall we hear "winter cancel" for no reason, and yes this goes for all of our very snowy winters of late...so its no surprise to hear "summer cancel" now. Those have become overly used phrases on weather boards lol. However, we should definitely see some cooler than normal weather. Tomorrow may barely hit 70, and normal high is now 78. LOL we do NOT need any rain. In what has been a nonstop year of moisture, 1 week of bone dry weather is not hurting, and I actually think the lawns are pretty darn green considering the heat of the past few days, sure some spots are browning, but its not nearly as bad as Ive seen in years past. Its almost comical!! Thinking many of us use it out of humor and put no faith behind it though. Tomorrows temp is non issue..Severe will be front headlines.. Cooler weather for a few days then a beautiful moderation into normal values by early next week.
