msp
102 in Mankato, MN - hottest since 1988. MPX just published to facebook that as of 2:15pm, MSP is now at 102F too. that's a record high for today and warmest temp since july 1988. record high for june is 104F; we may get close this afternoon. hawkeye_wx
Still only sitting at 91 here. As usual, Cedar Rapids is the least hot reporting station in Iowa.
OHSnow
Another hot day in northwest Ohio. At 3 PM, the temp was 96 at Toledo Express Airport and 97 at Toledo Metcalf Field. It could get a couple degrees hotter before the end of the day, and tomorrow may be even hotter -- perhaps 100 degrees? I don't know when Toledo last hit 100, but I'm sure it's been awhile. This is also the 4th straight day with 90+ at both Toledo airports. Temps the last 4 days: TOL 94, 90, 90, 96* TDZ 97, 91, 93, 97*
OHSnow
Still only sitting at 91 here. As usual, Cedar Rapids is the least hot reporting station in Iowa. Is it calibrated correctly? That seems kind of low considering nearby obs.
OHSnow
Does anyone know why a number of ASOS sites starting reporting crazy obs last hour? Is it some sort of orchestrated hacking? I found at least four sites went down last hour: KJXN (Jackson, MI) reporting a temp of 82 and dewpoint of 24 (it was 90/74 the hour before) KBUF (Buffalo, NY): reported a dewpoint of 23 -- actually in the 60s KFDY (Findlay, OH): reported a temp of 57, dewpoint of 43 (actually about 95/65 per nearby obs), as well as dense fog and a spurious gusty northeast wind KBED (Bedford, MA): reported a temp of 68 (was in the 80s) and a north wind of 94 MPH!!! msp
Any of you in Minny gonna drive up to Duluth (harbor is in the mid 50's )? i'm a wee bit tempted. that 52F with a strong east wind off the lake would feel downright frigid. that's a fifty degree difference between here and there. ridiculous. Chicago WX
Our dewpoints have been slower to mix out than some other areas. ORD now a degree ahead. 95 to 94. We're going to lose this one. IKK still at 99. Maybe the thermometer there doesn't go to triple digits.

hawkeye_wx
Is it calibrated correctly? That seems kind of low considering nearby obs. Yesterday the weathernet station here in the city hit 95 while the airport was 92, but even the wn station is only 91 this afternoon. I remember back in the heat wave of 1995 Cedar Rapids just barely reached 100 on the hottest day while everyone else around here was >100 and spots up by La Crosse were something like 108. I don't know why it tends to get several degrees warmer up in northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.

hawkeye_wx
As hot as it is so early in the season, with a temp of 91 and dewpoint of only 64 it's really not that bad. Last summer we only hit the low 90s a few times, but the dewpoint was near 80 so it felt MUCH worse.

OHSnow
Wow, crazy to see MSP reaching levels not seen since 1988! 1988 was a record breaking drought... this has been one of the wettest years on record for the midwest! This summer is making the soil moisture theory look bunk.
