I'm placing my bets on us. These are our times to shine.

Just cracked 89º on my thermometer.

IKK out of control...97º at 11:35AM. :arrowhead:

yikes...IKK needs some fixing.

One thing is pretty much certain...ORD will have a warmer overnight low.

I feel like I'm becoming immune to the heat. For whatever reason, 90s don't bother me as much this year; at least so far. I think this is because I don't spend too much time outside, so when I do, I actually find the heat somewhat refreshing compared to 40s and rainy.

how bout this from June 7, 1948

1948 NEAR ANDERSON A HAILSTORM DROPPED HAIL 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...AND WAS UP TO ONE FOOT DEEP IN SPOTS.

I would enjoy experiencing one of these before I die...as long as my car is in a safe place. TBH I enjoy hail more than tornadoes; I find it just as exciting and hail doesn't kill people.

It can, although it's obviously not as big of a threat to life as a violent tornado. I've never experienced anything like that...I've seen an inch or maybe 2 and that's it. I wonder what the temps were like. Usually there's a quick, massive drop in temperature (30 degrees or more) when you get that much hail.

100F or more at MSP since 1988 (when we had a bunch of days at or above the century mark, including a 105F reading)... someone can check my numbers, as these are just a quick text search in the data records:

7/31/2006: 101F (i remember this one well)

7/13/1995: 101F

7/03/1990: 100F

which means this could be the first 100 in june in 23 years if we get lucky.

edit: i think it might also be the second earliest 100F on record, as only one date before today has a record max above it (106F in 1934 on 5/31)

I'd love to even see hail covering the ground...my best was seeing sporadic hen-egg sized hail back in April, but it didn't cover the ground. Still awesome though.

They were very competitive last year and even beat us sometimes.

Yes, yes they were. We're really talking about 1a and 1b in the state of Indiana with respect to dewpoints. The creme de la creme if you will.

IKK up to 99º at last ob, and leading the state of IL. 100º incoming...

According to DTX updated HWO/Aviation Discussion, the lake breeze boundary may ignite an isolated severe storm this afternoon/evening. Right now the boundary looks to extend from DET northward through Western Macomb, NE Oakland, and SE Lapeer Counties.
