Yall send some of that rain this way. I found moisture 2.5" deep in my garden but it wont last long. Im not worried about a longterm drought though. Just concerned for my vegetables.

Looks like tomorrow is GA's turn for atleast a chance. the GFS has a stalled front in the area, sort of in damming config., definitely going to be a dewpoint difference from NC to GA tomorrow. Check out low 70's dewpoints in part of GA to SC, but upper 50's even some mid 50's dewpoints in midday for NC. It also develops storms right over sw NC and then they roll south toward the SAV river valley and adjacent SC and GA region. For some reason the 18z GFS actually had a decent chance of rain tonight in the same regions of NC and SC that already got worked over. RUC as well, which is doubtful. But probably possible in GA if anywhere.

I have never in my life seen it this hot in NE TN this early. Four straight record highs. We may have missed today's by one degree. We will probably break tomorrow's record. Looking at the 18z GFS makes me think this pattern may be locked in for the month. Crap. I hate this kind of weather. Bone dry in this neck of the woods.

looking at KCAE nexrad shows you're in the center and a huge outflow arcing out making a near perfect semi circle. Pretty cool to see that. Glad you got hit.

Yep, day after day of 90 plus in late spring gets old real quick. We've had so much rain in my area this spring, but we will dry out fast if June continues like the end of May.

I will say this, the storms in Greene County this year have been the roughest that many old-timers have ever seen. Even if you take out the super tornado outbreak of late April, they've been amazingly strong with huge hail in several of them. Speaking of the tornadoes that struck Greene County, the NWS this week has now confirmed 5 different tornadoes touched down throughout the county during that one night. Simply amazing.

Good for you!! I had standing water for a while this afternoon.. .......of course I had to run the sprinkler for two hours to pull that off :) Had two 96's and one 94, and the experiment station had a 94, so I'm calling it a bit cooler but still in the mid 90's today. Still relatively low humidity, so it wasn't unbearable...and the nights are cool enough to sleep. I'd love to think in July/Aug. it will be in the 80's only, when the humidity is high, and it is so hard to take. I'd think with all the massive amounts of energy aloft so far, we ought to get some hurricanes this year..but who knows?? I'd be fine with no hurricanes at all, if we could get 30 se tracking TD's and TS's, lol. Tony

I'm surprised you were that "cool". It was 98 here the last 2 days, Columbus hit 100, and it was 99 or 100 in Anniston and Birmingham.

 I could live with that

Alot of people without power from this little storm http://www.sceg.com/...ter/outage-map/

Winds imby had to be at least 60 as it takes that to bring the basketball goal down...lol

EDIT: (WLTX) - Severe storms have caused damage and knocked out power throughout the Midlands.

The storm began moving through the area around 6 p.m.

There have been widespread reports of mild to moderate wind damage. A pelting of hail fell all across the Midlands, including pea sized hail.

Chief Meteorologistmag-glass_10x10.gif Jim Gandy said Doppler radar indicated a 100 mile an hour wind just north of Irmo, and that it appeared to be a microburst. There was also radar indications of winds of 60 miles an hour in West Columbia.

As of 9:10 p.m., there were 38, 200 homes and businesses without power in Lexington and Richland Counties, according to SCE&G.

My goodness, this humidity is killing me. 83 degrees, 73 dp. Starting to remind me of last summer.

Yeah, we haven't had the kind of unbearable humidity we had last summer YET, but it is a lot hotter so far than it was last May and June. Kirk Mellish thinks it will be a "front loaded" summer and i hope he's right. I hit 98 yesterday and my hottest temp all of last summer was 97.

Obvious troll is obvious.

My sister's house has $25,000 in damage - might have shared that before. Baseball size hail shredded their neighborhood. Most siding has yet to be repaired. Sullivan Co. did not have any tornadoes. Having driven through that area though, I'd have to say there may also have been a funnel cloud in their proximity. Their home was hit by the Glad Spring, VA, supercell - just no tornado recorded. In some cases, their window frames are broken. Last week, they had another storm that took their trampoline about 100 yards away.

But yeah, Greene County has been absolutely pounded. I think the number of tornadoes in this area will be almost an unbreakable record in my lifetime. By the way, my sister's place is actually close to the Greene Co. line.

I mean the hail damaged vehicle sales have been crazy. I talked to someone today who got a car w/ $8,000 off the sticker price. Bristol's car lots must have been hit hard. Right now, I just need some relief from the heat. My wife and I had talked about a beach vacation. I think I'm leaning at Maine being my destination or Yellowstone National Park!

Amazing lightning last night as severe storms missed me to the west and southwest. Winds really picked up, probably gusted to 40-50mph last night. Thunder got loud once the storms made their closest approach, probably peaked just south of Columbia, SC. Lightning was just amazing, took some video, unfortunately my IPOD touch does not have the best resolution and I probably deleted the best video by accident. However this afternoon and again Sunday afternoon could feature more severe weather, especially if we get cells to initiate it should not take long for them to intensify and organize, we really seem to be lacking a triggering mechanism to just get them started.

Today features some decent 200-500mb directional shear with some added speed shear, roughly with a northerly wind direction today. If enough instability can pool up and we get some decent mid level lapse rates and low level lapse rates into the region, we could get into some decent severe weather potential. Sunday is honestly looking like the best day for coverage, but today has a decent chance like last night had, just pay attention.

Charleston, SC upper level RAOB sounding indicates a potentially unstable atmosphere with a moderate capping inversion in place. Decent low level warm layer is capping the potential for storms this morning and therefore we have seen the last of the few pop up storms this morning fizzle. However with temps again forecasted to reach into the lower 90s and dew points around 65-70F, I expect the potential for CAPE pooling is quite existent and therefore this could act to erode the capping inversion over the course of the next 6 hours of sunlight. With abundant sunshine anticipated insolation heating with destablize the atmosphere and allow the stationary front to ignite some thunderstorm development over the southern appalachians once again as deeper wind fields will allow some organization of the thunderstorms to develop. SPC has issued a slight risk for severe weather from eastern AL into western SC, unfortunately the risk does not appear to be too far to the east to impact most of eastern SC, from Columbia, SC eastward, however there always remains a potential for storms. Damaging wind gusts and severe hail appear to be the main impacts from these severe storms, as well as severe cloud to ground lightning. Last night featured the right atmosphere for an electrically charged storm. Once the winds came through the air cooled significantly and therefore separated the warmer weather to the south and cooler air to the north. With the stalled frontal boundary still to the north, anyone over SC, GA and AL could see some strong to severe thunderstorms, perhaps organizing into a line or two with damaging winds the main threat. However if cells remain discrete than hail could also become more of a dangerous threat. I will have more later today once storms begin to develop.

congrats on the T-storms guys! I hope nature can throw us a few more bones today!!! North Carolina mostly looks very stable today, Most unstable air looks to be over Georgia and western SC. There is some interesting stuff going on in the NE corner of GA, and SW corner of NC. That area looks pretty unstable too.
