Well out of all those days with t-storm chances, I got a total of a whopping 0.40...even though it rained a lot more all around me and I mean close by too. Pathetic. That 0.40 didn't even make the grass greener, which surprised me. Now we enter another day or two without any chances. Can only hope the nw flow can provide some mcs's or storm complexes because these days with just isolated storms are just a kick in the groin here.

lol - sucks to have the big storms so close and yet not iyby. all the storms and days with storms i ended up with less than .15 total. :(

All I managed was .3". I do have 55 gallons of rain in my rain barrell now which makes things a little better.

lol - although i am not sure .15 is a lot to shout about :scooter: its certainly desert like here at this point as well - what i wouldnt give to have a big tropical system sit and spin over the se for a couple of days :guitar:

A few cells in SC coming off the chain are developing. They're small, but the RUC and other models hinted at this chance for tonight. Hopefully something gets to Columbia :sun:

 I've been watching those lone cells for the past hr  At least they are moving slowly in the right direction

EDIT: They went *poof*........Oh well.....more chances in the days to come...waiting patiently :)

Thursday is looking good for some more rain and then they mention moderate chances over the weekend with some hit and miss showers. Bad news is they start bringing the ridge back into play as early as Monday and they shut off our rain chances after that.

WARMING TEMPS FOR THIS WEEKEND AS UPR RIDGE BUILDS FURTHER. PRECIP

CHANCES ARE QUESTIONABLE DUE TO PLACEMENT OF POTENTIAL UPR LEVEL NW

FLOW SHORTWAVE ENERGY MOVING THROUGH E NC. FOR MON AND BEYOND...

IT APPEARS HTS WILL SOAR AS RIDGE AMPLIFIES ACROSS E CONUS...SO

PRECIP CHANCES WILL DIMINISH QUITE A BIT...AND TEMPS WILL BE ON

THE RISE AS WELL.-- End Changed Discussion --

After 24 rain-free days we finally broke the streak at Myrtle Beach. A 3:30 am storm brought .71" to KMYR with wind gusts to 45 mph. The storms were even worse just to the south. Here in Surfside beach, I had a full 10 minutes of consistent 40-50 mph wind gusts, blinding rain and pea sized hail. Ended up with 1" in the guage. Trash cans and lawn furniture blown all over the place. Looking forward to more with this interesting pattern the rest of the week.

What a difference a day makes. It feels really nice out this morning and I took a nice deep breath of fresh air. Its the makings of a great day in June

I just got back from a drive in the countryside, and did it feel like September! Unbelievable difference from the last few weeks. The drier air definitely gives a feel of early Autumn. And then driving pretty much everywhere over the southern half of the county, and I still have to ask myself if I'm in the right place? All the lush greenery everywhere, just doesn't seem right for here, especially in June.

I was on the mojo wagon with you around the first of May. Then I stuck my foot in my mouth and posted how well the growing season had got underway IMBY. Unfortunately since then I havent even had an inch of rain all totaled up. In fact Saturday .20 and Sunday .05 was the first measureable rain we had in 3 weeks. I'm still in the mindset we have our Hottest/Driest weather compared to normal climo the first half of Summer. I-77 seems to be the line for the haves/have nots in NC. I beleive from about Winston NW up To Boone, have been doing very well it seems along with Gastonia back to your area along the 74 corridor.

A wonderful morning it was indeed with the low humidity and dewpoint conditions. Even now it feels downright amazing outside. Currently only 75° compared to the usual 80s or 90s. I don't think I could have asked for a better start to a June day than this.

Lucky 7's here, Hickory and Winston Salem right now at 1:30 , on a sunny June afternoon (77). We still have several hours of heating but doubtful we'll make the upper 80's today. Tonight will be another cool one with mid 50's pretty common in NC east of the mountains , so long as convective debris doesnt' get too thick.

The GFS and ECMWF are still at odds. GFS keeps the heat to the south and west of the Southeast (mostly) for the entire run, but west of the Apps does get brushed with heat time to time, but no big heat waves like we've had. It also has been developing a tropical system in the later period, but thats too far out to trust of course. Texas and the Gulf Coast could use a big rain. Some runs have had up to 10" of rain from a surge of trop. moisture that nearly stalls around LA or the Gulf. This run is more toward western Fl and eastern Carolina with a lot of moisture. Basically though, for the next few days it ramps up the waves of convection that run basically west to east, and keeps that kind of pattern going for a long time.

great weather Robert, I don't mind if we get a little rain but have too much going on. Looking at a big install for a home near Big Frosty's home. I may need some help if homeowner goes for proposal. We are proposing an outdoor living area beside his pool so he can watch storms come up while relaxing!!!

Text below is from the NWS Disco for SE GA. Can someone explain 'compressional heating ahead of the front'?

FURTHER SOUTH IN GA THERE IS SOME RESTRICTION IN INSOLATION DUE TO THE SMOKE...BUT COMPRESSIONAL HEATING AHEAD OF THE FRONT...A NW TO NORTH SYNOPTIC FLOW OVER MANY AREAS INLAND AND LESS RISK OF CONVECTION POINTS TOWARD ANOTHER VERY HOT DAY. PRETTY MUCH EVERYWHERE NEAR AND EAST OF I-95 WILL REACH 95-100 DEGREES.

A dry, north wind can be hot air's best friend in summer. Savannah is in at 3PM with 101 temp and 60 dewpoint with N wind at 12 gusting to 17
