OMG. It's raining! :D

Grats man, you deserve it, save that counter for me, it's still dry as a bone here......

Edit : hold the phone, storm is blowing up like two mile north of me moving directly at me. Could this be the one. How sad that I'm literally tracking storms that have not formed yet.... Can see it building now outside! Radar confirms, how big will it get?

Looks like a shower popped on top of you. Hope you're getting something out of it. Out to my west, I can see a towering cumulonimbus cloud that's been sitting there for the past 20 minutes or so. Wondering if it will become another pulsed thunderstorm. Starting to look similar to yesterday in regard to the location of the rest of the storms (example being the one that popped on top of Charlotte).

OMG. It's raining! :D

Good deal. You deserved it.

Just got back in and dry from playing in the rain. The water running downhill over a warm driveway felt like heaven. Still raining but its losing steam. I would estimate close to .25" but that's just a guess. I see that storm blew up over Marietta so I hope Hawksfan got something.

Boom goes the dynamite, that storm went from nothing to over 60dbz in no time, this ought to be awesome!!!!! only a few drops here at work in Fair Oaks, but according to the radar my house in west Marietta got hit good, I bet my garden is rejoicing right now.

Hope it worked out for you at your house!

Not a drop again. The storms started all around me. It cant go on forever can it?

Thats really sucks man. It'll end soon...

 Congrats!!

Here's a pic of the currently warned storm from my front porch

and from my back porch

The dogs are so unimpressed, they didn't even bother to walk to their houses!

:(

Wash....Rinse.....Repeat....

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...

-- Changed Discussion --SATURDAY SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE RELATIVELY HOT AND DRY ONCE AGAIN

FOR THE LARGE MAJORITY OF THE CWA. BEST CHANCE FOR ANY KIND OF

PRECIP WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE WESTERN COUNTIES...AND WILL BE

DEPENDANT UPON CONVECTION FORMING IN THE UPSTATE AND MOVING

EASTWARD. CONFIDENCE NOT TO HIGH AT THIS TIME...AND MOST AREAS

WILL NOT HAVE ANY MENTION OF PRECIP FOR SATURDAY. HIGHS SATURDAY

CONTINUE TO GET INTO THE LOW TO MID 90S. DRY SATURDAY NIGHT WITH

LOWS IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOWER 70S.

There is hope

SUNDAY WE WILL BEGIN TO SEE A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN AS

UPPER LEVEL TROUGH BEGINS TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE EASTERN US. THIS

WILL HELP TO BRING A COLD FRONT INTO THE REGION SUNDAY...WITH THE

FRONT SLOWLY MOVING ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.

INCREASED RAIN CHANCES IN ADVANCE OF THE FRONT SINCE THE REGION

WILL SEE ENHANCED UPLIFT AND INSTABILITY SUNDAY. SCATTERED SHOWERS

OR THUNDERSTORMS COULD OCCUR FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY

NIGHT. SUNDAY WILL STILL BE WARM THOUGH WITH HIGHS IN THE LOWER TO

MID 90S AGAIN. LOWS SUNDAY NIGHT AROUND 70.-- End Changed Discussion --

Rocking and rolling in southern pines. I nailed my best high speed lightning shot yet! I will post the video late tonight. Earlier in a little chase caught dime sized hail and 40-50mph winds.

Huge warned tstorm overhead nothing falling.... missed out on yesterdays action also. We need rain!

I picked up 1.67" here just North of Town. Still raining, but not as heavy as a few moments ago. It was pretty cool watching this storm come down 220 out of Martinsville. It then took a left at Ridgeway, and seemed to follow 87/14 towards Reidsville. Nothing severe here, but the lightning was pretty intense.

Nice coverage going on for a part of Eastern NC from Elizabeth City to Durham. Numerous strong/severe thunderstorms all lined up and producing a good bit of flooding. That would have done you folks in Georgia a lot of good if it looked anything like this:

In other news, I've got some pretty loud thunder going on in my area to the north with very vivid and powerful lightning. Might end up with something on my end in a few if it comes this way.

Just had one of the most amazing science "A-ha" moments ever. Me and my niece just got in right before dark maybe 20 minutes ago. Coming inside I looked east toward Gastonia at a pinkish cumulus developing. We stared at the cloud for 45 seconds, and literally watched it grow before our eyes. I explained how clouds and storms works and then during the 45 sec. span, we watched it grow into a full overshooting top..45 Seconds! We saw the stage where the cumulus hits the freezing level and the ice crystal clouds (the fuzzy anvil) was spreading out around the top. We were lucky on timing, the sun was shining nicely on the top of the cloud, very dark toward the bottom. I told her Gastonia was due east and that in a minute we'll check out the real time radar..sure enough, I put it in motion, nothing at first, then heavy red echoes right over Gastonia. We both were amazed at this, then the lightning was developing within just 2 or 3 minutes after the heavy rain, so we checked the lightning network. It showed lightning everywhere, and then suddenly a bolt landed right beside us. Needless to say, she's scared (I was too) but to just experience that phenomenon of a rapidly developing updraft a few miles away, then the lightning and charging particles from the outflow boundary makes this Science so fun and to see it actually work out.. No rain here yet, but we can hear it down the bottom of the hill. And the winds are picking up . I'm sure the updraft is abot to collapse in the time of this message. Just figured I'd share that, I was so giddy to watch her eyes light up at actual science in the real time. Incidentally, I've only seen this happen a few times or taken the time to really notice it...its worth the time to watch a cumulonimbus develop so rapidly before your eyes.

Neat stuff. this is why I love thunderstoms in NC... This same thing has been happening continuously over east Durham since 5pm with pulse storms and it has been very beautiful. Nothing here yet, in face there is not even any cumulous.

Stuff dying out west so I have a bad feeling about getting anything here. Sure has been a very hot dry 2 weeks without even any clouds.

Gastonia looks to be getting pounded, looks like something is trying to form right over me. It would be nice to get some rain tonight!

It's a glorious view out here indeed. Just got through recording the storm for about 30mins (I'll have separate vidoes of it in a moment). Only 1 CG bolt occurred, but my lord was it huge and so close. In fact, you could see the remaining plasma after it struck which made that an A+ moment. I'm currently experiencing strong breezes with beautiful CC lightning. Looking to my west, I can see how the top of the storm was rounded off, giving it that fuzzed look (like what you had said Robert). Getting some huge rain drops right now and to add to this, the moon is completely out in the area that's clear just below the edge of the storm which made the sky appear even more amazing (never seen that happen to be honest). Just a fantastic light show out here tonight. This will make up for yesterday's missed action.
